Saw this Ryobi 18V Cultivator at the HD yesterday

http://www.ryobitools.com/outdoor/products/details/591 Black and Decker has a similar unit on their battery platforms, but Ryobi has finally put one out to compete. It’s nice not to have to buy into another battery platform if you want this kind of tool.

The 18volts is concerning, the dirt would already have to be fairly loose for this to work well..
