As a carpenter I love the Festool and Rolair in the bag already! If I won this bag those 2 things would make my co-workers soo jealous! I don’t think they even know what Festool is! LOL!

Anyways since I already have the Ridgid 18v Cordless Drill and Impact Driver I would like to see the Jobmax with all the optional heads. And Maybe the Ridgid 12″ Compound MIter Saw while we’re at it throw in the Ridgid 13 amp table saw….i need one for my shed 😀

I have the Ridgid R4512, it’s no Powermatic but still kicks butt! Enough tool to do some real work. If we are talking UTB, I vote for the Festool miter box over Ridgid!

Don’t know what Festool is ???

I hate when I have to explain how fucking awesome my tools are to someone who has no idea what Proto is and thinks Craftsman would be an upgrade.

I think being clueless is one thing we all start from somewhere, but if your in the trades you should know some of the major and minor tool brands. I have a beef with Craftsman after a socket set my mother bought for me turned out to be the biggest pos ever.I felt really bad for her she didn’t make a ton of money and it was a present from her, she knew that I liked to fix things and we needed a socket set around the house to make basic repairs. I hated it because when you would lift the case to carry it all the sockets would fall out of place.

I do emphasize. Getting a gift that doesn’t work right can be a downer. I’m betting, however, I think “Mom” would want you to be happy with the tools. My suggestion, therefore (especially since these are Craftsman hand tools which are guaranteed for life), is to take them back to Sears and let them make it right.

Couldn’t agree more about Proto tools. They beat every competitive tool line item for item across the board. If you need it and Proto makes it – buy it.

Nope! The heirs to the guy who dies with the most tools wins!

My mother-in-law is always trying to buy me “tools”, in quotations because some of the stuff is SO gimmicky and appears to be purchased at fisher-price. very nice of her to attempt but fake tools drive me nuts.

After reading the comparisons in an article in the 2015 Tool Guide, pg. 38, you might want to reconsider that Rigid miter saw in favor of the Bosch CM12. It’s a plain Jane model but the engineering details and resulting accuracy are rated far better than the Rigid which they said had good points but too many negatives.

You decision might also depend on whether you use a miter saw for cabinet/furniture work in tandem with a good table saw, or for rough carpentry in the field.

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

Yea unfortunately, unless your a toolie, a drill is a drill.

When it comes time for my Birthday I just tell all my family members to not buy me tools because the stuff I need is to expensive to get as a gift and I like picking it out myself, My gift suggestions are “get me something that you think I like that’s Not a Tool”
