Hey EE! Nice job man, you won the laser give away on our YouTube video! Check it out 🙂
Congratulations EE! That a rugged 5 point laser.
Congrats and enjoy 🙂
Cool, I had no idea they were even giving away stuff. 🙂
Have to watch the videos every day you never know whats going to happen! They love to give stuff out at random gotta like Dan and Eric for that 🙂
It may not be an oscilloscope but congrats anyway.
Yes, winnint the scope would be like winning 10x ultimate tool bags!
Still, winning the 5-way laser is cool. Im not exactly sure how Ill use it yet. Any ideas for a test project?
So what is an Oscilloscope exactly? What does one cost?
An oscilloscope is used to view an electronic signal. A simple example of an electronic signal would be a sin wave. (think back to trig). The waveform has different characteristics and the scope makes it possible to view the characteristics. This is an example of an analog waveform.
it would be impossible to view a waveform on a normal meter.
With digital electronics and computers:
A good oscilloscope can also decode signals. Everything needs some way of talking to stuff, electronics are no different. Protocols have been established to create a standard of communication. When viewed with a scope the signals look like square waves. The high = 1 and the low = 0 .. Thats where you get all that 10010100100101 binary stuff. It’s more complex and different standards do different things but the principle is all the same.
This is what an SPI bus looks like on paper
and this is what a good scope can do: Notice that a good scope can even decode the square wave pulses into hex ( a number system thats easier to read then wave form)
The scope Tek is giving away can do a lot more…
As for price… $$$$$$
cheap scope = $400
good scope = $2500
professional scope = $50,000
Wow, most excellent explanation, more than I expected, more than I understand.
Hope you win this thing 😉

The five point laser would be great to layout walls. I use a three point now and always find myself wanting an extra two points. If you need to finish a basement this would be a great tool.
