Tough System Radio

Butchered a small case, to adapt to a Radio……Now it is no longer sittin on the Floor.

In Picture #3, the Dewalt Portable  Vac and Flex Light are both held in place, by using a dead 18V battery, with the batteries removed and the empty case screwed into the appropriate location. Tool locks on to the battery case and keeps them secure.

Thats great! What a great idea!

firefighter4187Member since Mar 2013

Thats pretty bad ass, patent that and have DeWalt buy it haha!!

RedSionnachMember since Aug 2013

That’s a good idea. May be DeWalt could come up with something like a sliding dovetail or a way to use the stacking clasps to attach the radio to the boxes.

BrienMember since Dec 2013

I bungee the same radio to the top of my box while on the cart. I like your innovation. I don’t have the guts to hack a tough box.

MozeMember since Jun 2012

Great idea on mounting the vac and the flashlight!

Mr. YellowMember since Jan 2011

That’s great! It wouldn’t really work with their latest radio. You’d be blocking the 2 outlets on one side and the storage case on the other, but it works great on the one you have.

RickyMcGrathMember since Oct 2014

Gives me an idea….. Building a radio using a whole tough box. Like they do with coolers.

chadlanthierMember since Mar 2013

Cool idea. I like tough box radio idea too.

RickyMcGrathMember since Oct 2014

If you’re good with electronics circuitry, you could setup the whole thing perfectly. Storage inside, battery charger, etc.

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

Rick that would be badass!

chadlanthierMember since Mar 2013

Great idea how about cooler and radio in one.

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

as long as its worksite tough im in 😉

chadlanthierMember since Mar 2013

It has to hold at least a twelve pack. At least.

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

Lol hell yea!!

chadlanthierMember since Mar 2013

Oh and it needs a lock, so the coworkers keep their paws off.

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

Especially for the ones who never pitch in 😉

Now we’re talking!

A DEWALT Tough System, Radio, Charger & Cooler!

chadlanthierMember since Mar 2013

Alright who wants to pitch it dewalt, maybe they can have it out by Christmas 2020.

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

Count me in!!

Mr. YellowMember since Jan 2011

Not a cooler, maybe a charger(?), definetely a radio and for sure it attaches to your ToughSystem…

As if DeWALT didn’t have enough radio’s yet, here’s the next one…

🙂

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

That would be cool!!

SarbatcheMember since Oct 2014

Done. I had the old 12V charging radio; I could use an upgrade that incorporates the tough system.

chadlanthierMember since Mar 2013

That’s cool. Is that an actual box or did u etch toughsound onto t.

Mr. YellowMember since Jan 2011

Seems like a prototype. Not my picture. It was posted by A Concord Carpenter on his Facebook page…

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

Oohhh that will cool if they come out with it

Mr. YellowMember since Jan 2011

They should invert the colorscheme for that radio. A yellow box with black handle, cover, buttons. So you know from far it’s the radio and not a regular DS150 😉

Wonder where the battery goes…

Oh, in fact, if they did this to a DS300 you can put some heavy speakers in there… 😀

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

I agree 100% Mr.Yellow  😉

RickyMcGrathMember since Oct 2014

Hmmmm…. That’s pretty neat.

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

Man I hope there really gonna come out with that tough radio…..

MozeMember since Jun 2012

Man, that’d be pretty cool. I’d scoop one of those up. Dan and Eric said there were some exciting new DeWalt tools coming out – I wonder if this is one of them…

tooldevilMember since Nov 2009

The TS Radio look very cool, still waiting until it´s offered in Germany, did anyone get´s some infos about the runtime with a 4 or 5 Ah battery and the price

Kenneth DenmarkMember since Jun 2014

I will guess the price will about 320 € + vat

Mr. YellowMember since Jan 2011

Premium price for the premium model. I reckon it will have DAB+ for that kind of money?

Kenneth DenmarkMember since Jun 2014

It will..

And it makes coffee

Mr. YellowMember since Jan 2011

I don’t drink coffee. However, if it can cook water…. 😀

tooldevilMember since Nov 2009

Thanks guy´s, that´s a lot of money but it looks awesome, I have heard the radio should be launched in Sept. or Oct. in Europe.

Same here, but sometimes I burn the water.

Kenneth DenmarkMember since Jun 2014

I just returned from sales meting and I have seen the radio.. How was the sound?… OMFG.. SUPER NICE!! And this isn’t just a salesman/tooladvisor talking.. I’m sure you will say the same when you hear it..!!

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

Man I can’t wait to get one of these!!!!!!

Mr. YellowMember since Jan 2011

Is it loud? The DCR017 is pretty loud, but hey, the louder the better. And a lot of oomph oomph oomph 😉

Kenneth DenmarkMember since Jun 2014

Yepp!

Mr. YellowMember since Jan 2011

@ KWC, can you lock this radio on the brackets somehow? ’cause if I get one I want to be able to store it in my toughrack in my van, but the radio doesn’t have the side handles to lock it. Doesn’t seem so on the pictures anyway?!

Kenneth DenmarkMember since Jun 2014

Nope not yet.. Yep they are out in EU

Mr. YellowMember since Jan 2011

So how does it lock then? Is there a recessed area in the sides where the brackets sits in?

Funny that you posted that link to the radio. That’s where I get some of my DeWALT stuff. However, the radio isn’t available till October 1st.

Mr. YellowMember since Jan 2011
