Can somebody please explain the relationship between Kobalt, Lowes, and Chervon?
My understanding is that Kobalt is owned by Lowes and Chervon manufactures their 24V power tool line. Chervon does not actually own Kobalt.
I think the relationship is similar to Emerson owning Ridgid but TTI manufacturing the tools.
Am I correct? This is what Mr Google and Wiki tell me but I was discussing with someone that believes that Chervon actually owns Kobalt.
Lowes – is a hardware store
Kobalt – Is Lowes house brand
Chervon – Is a manufacturer of tools including Kobalt
Is in direct competition with Home Depot
Home Depot – hardware Store
Ryobi – Home Depots house brand
TTI – Manufacturer of Ryobi
As far as I know, Chervon doesn’t own them. It’s Lowes who owns the Kobalt name. Where I think TTI owns the Ryobi name, not Home Depot, but could be wrong.
I believe:
Home Depot owns Husky which just happens not to have power tools
TTI owns and manufactures Milwaukee and Ryobi
Emerson owns Ridgid but TTI manufactures the tools
Chervon owns and manufactures Ego, Flex and Skil
I just wasn’t sure where Kobalt fit into this puzzle, I think it is similar to the Ridged where one company (Lowes) owns and outsources the production of the tools (Chervon).
Maybe a better parallel is Harbour Freight who is the retailer but also owns the Bauer and Hercules brands but offshore the manufacturing.
Yes, perfect way to sum it all up. It’s a crazy world how they all fit together.
