I need to replace the brushes and armature in my Dewalt DCD985 drill driver/hammer drill. Worn out. This drill has served me well for about 12 years under hard use without any hiccups. The tag on the drill is scarred up. I can only make out the model # and a partial serial number. I also have the date code stamped in the respective battery socket and also the original part number etched into the armature. The “type” (type1 or type 2)notation is long gone. Brushes and armatures ARE available. However there is specific armatures for the type 1 and type 2. The field magnet and brushes are interchangeable which would leave me to believe the two different armatures are dimensionally the same. Called Dewalt and sad to say no help even with all the info I had. “We need the type #”. 1 or 2? Here’s what I have..
Model #: DCD985
Date code: 2012 48-49
Original armature #- N180321/1247
Partial serial #- 552(565?)
Any help would be greatly appreciated. The days of talking to a real tech help line are long gone. Don’t want to buy new. I just don’t trust the robustness of their new line.
I’d like to add the replacement part numbers for the 2 armatures available. Type 1 and type 2 respectively. Type 1 : NO23147SV (don’t know what “SV” stands for). Type 2 : N372159. Lastly, thanks so much for allowing me to post here!
Sorry for long delay on my response to your post okpermanent, I pulled the trigger on the armature for a “type 1”. Installed it and everything is working great! No issues. Thanks for the guidance.
