Bought the large LS1219L mitre saw to replace an aging model and bought the Makita stand with wheels as this saw is heavy and I need to move it around a lot – so far so good.
FIrst time I packed it up to move it, the saw fell backwards as when fixed to the stand it its really back-heavy – completely unworkable as a portable trolley – whoever designed it can never have tried to use it
Not spending more money on an aftermarket fold up trolley, but sick of making two trips carrying the saw then the trolley, so here’s my fix:
A wheelie bin axle and wheels and 2 x 21mm U bolts drilled and fixed to the stand, with the axle biased to the back, which also stops it getting the way when using the saw – great over rough ground and stable when folding and unfolding the legs.
A bit Heath Robinson, but it works and works for £25! – Come on Makita, test your stuff!
That’s awesome. Yes, those saws and stands are very heavy. I have a Dewalt and it breaks my back.
