That’s a tiny looking rotary hammer usually they look big and bulky. Another good video DammYankee!

Nice review. You’re right DR, it does look pretty compact.

MozeMember since Jun 2012

Thanks guys. I’ll get a picture of it next to the DeWalt.

MozeMember since Jun 2012

I guess I’m getting old. Accidentally put this under Hilti – meant to put it under Bosch. Can one of the mods move it?

DR99Member since Nov 2012

I took care of it.

Conductor562Member since Nov 2011

Bosch in the Hilti section! We need to get you some Centrum 😆

Do they even make Centrum anymore?

MozeMember since Jun 2012

I’m getting old I guess.   🙂

Anyway, here are pics compared to the DeWalt. It’s actually a little taller but not quite as long as the DeWalt.

What is the difference between the 181 and the 182?

JavierMember since Aug 2013

That’s cool you got the Bosch brushless. It looks so light. That’s a good price for $389. Amazing how quick it drills the larger holes. Good video

…the 182 doesn’t exist…? 🙂

The 180 is the older model. It doesn’t have the chipping feature. I think that’s the only difference. Well, I think it also comes with the older lithium batteries.

Thanks, yeah the price was really good.

Oops I meant the 180. Sorry about that. Did yours have the 4.0 batteries?

No problem. Yeah, the 181 comes with the 4.0 batteries.

Great review!  The Bosch just ate through that concrete with the 1/2″ bit!  Did you get to look back at how fast the Bosch was compared to the Dewalt and Hilti?  I think a great tool fight would be the Bosch vs a fuel Milwaukee Rotary Hammer.

NicholasShetleyMember since Nov 2013

Only if milwaukee made one.

WIElectricianMember since Dec 2013

They have a 12v fuel, but not really the same class as the Bosch and Dewalt.  I could see it in development to be released later  this year.

NicholasShetleyMember since Nov 2013

I’m suprised they haven’t released one already.

They released this unit this year but the bummer is they didn’t release it as a brushless tool for some reason. It’s the same thing with Milwaukee’s oscillating mutl-tool why did they release a brushed version? I guess it might have been the quickest way to get in into production and out to retailers in a reasonable amount of time? Dewalt had their brushless unit out before Milwaukee when it came to multi-tools. Like the earier Bosch version it lacks a chipping feature that’s pretty lame if I’m spending a ton of money on a SDS drill I want to have some sort of chipping function.

NicholasShetleyMember since Nov 2013

I think they wanted to test the market with the cheaper non brushless one. You don’t want to release a top of the line tool only to find out no one wants it.

It seems like Milwaukee isn’t huge in masonry like Bosch is, but everything seem to be going brushless.  It’s just matter of time before it comes out.

wayneburgessMember since May 2012

I have this Bosch and it is fantastic 🙂

Conductor562Member since Nov 2011

Bosch has kinda catered to the masonry trades the past couple years just as Milwaukee has focused on the Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, trades and Dewalt the framers and general contractor.

I bought a Bosch RHH181 last week. I had initially bought the Milwaukee M12 fuel rotary hammer, but after about 4 weeks trying to like it in work, I found it too slow at drilling.

I liked the look of the bosch, and it seemed a great performer from reading and watching videos about it.

I demoed it against the Makita brushless model, but preferred the bosch, and it was faster.

The Bosch eats through concrete. Great drill.

wayneburgessMember since May 2012

If you drill over head and 10mm or less into masonry or concrete this is the best drill on the planet for you.  🙂

Nice man, I’m a DeWalt guy but that looks way nicer…

1R954Baker-hvacMember since Mar 2014

That thing is a beast…

wayneburgessMember since May 2012

It gets my vote for best in class by some margin.  🙂

MattSPLMember since Apr 2014

I used my RHH 181 to drill 2 holes, 450mm through a block wall(cavity in the middle). I used a 12x400mm bit as a pilot hole first, then a 25x500mm bit.

There was some wobbling around vibration using the long 25mm bit, but it flew through the wall, faster than the mains drill I have.

This is a great sds. Very fast and light! I prefer the grip of the DeWalt but have gotten used to the Bosch.
