Figured since we got the cordless tool trivia why not include the rest of the tools here.

I suppose I will start.

Williams made the original Kobalt USA ratchets. Blue Point and Williams still make that style of ratchet but in Taiwan instead of the USA. They are really nice ratchets if you add some Superlube in them.

Later the Kobalt ratchets stayed in the USA but were made by Danaher, those ratchets were not very good.

Right now Kobalt has ratchets made in Taiwan and China. The particular one’s I’m asking about are made in Taiwan and are very good quality…there is a major annoyance in the design, the lever is backwards.

Let’s not let this thread die: The answer is Toptul.

New question: Who is the OEM for Knipex screwdrivers?

JronmanMember since May 2016

I have no idea. KC Tool?

kornomaniacMember since Oct 2014

Felo ?

They’re made in German but not Felo.

kornomaniacMember since Oct 2014

Ah 🙂 Belgium has thesame rep for felo/knippex so that was my lead 😀

I wonder if that will change now that Felo will have a larger plier presence with the rebranded NWS pliers.

Hope not ! Felo’s rep is a good guy 😀

any other guesses?

StercorariusMember since Dec 2015

No idea. A little outside of my price range for picks/small prybars.

BMack37Member since Sep 2015

Witte!

Ok, let’s go domestic. Who makes Craftsman acetate made in USA screwdrivers?

JronmanMember since May 2016

sears?

StercorariusMember since Dec 2015

Not sure but I’m going to go with Pratt-Reed as a safe guess.

That was correct before the current manufacturer started making them…though the one I’m looking for may no longer be producing tools for them, I presume they pulled out after Sears started sourcing most of their pliers from China.

BMack37Member since Sep 2015

Guesses?

StercorariusMember since Dec 2015

Oh if they’re pulling out probably over the lawsuit. I would go with Western forge. I thought they were just oem for pliers but I learn something new each day.

Correct! You’re up!

OTC is a well known manufacturer of pullers. The company that purchased them (SPX) was purchased by which larger company?

Hint: O2 Sensors

JronmanMember since May 2016

@Stercorarius Fluke?

BMack37Member since Sep 2015

Bosch?

StercorariusMember since Dec 2015

@BMack37 is correct. The hint references the fact that Bosch invented the O2 sensor.

Neat. I knew they made O2 sensors since I installed four of them last year, but didn’t know they invented them.

StercorariusMember since Dec 2015

Yeah Bosch invented a whole slew of auto parts.

BMack37Member since Sep 2015

Bosch makes everything! They’re a pretty safe guess on any car part like that.

New question:

Klein mostly has their high end pliers made in the USA but they have a pair made in Germany, by whom?

kornomaniacMember since Oct 2014

Knippex ?
