So today I was working in my garage and one of my flex 6.0 batteries got low and didn’t have enough juice for the table saw so I went to plug it in and to my surprise it wouldn’t charge. the light may show solid or blink for a few seconds then show solid. I tried multiple chargers and multiple outlets. I even tested other batteries and they were fine. The chargers do not say hot cold delay either. The battery doesn’t feel warm to the touch either. Not sure what to do. Anyone else have issues?
Bad pack maybe? Maybe put it under a meter and see what it reads out

happened to one of my batteries, but a little water had spilled on it.
dewalt will swap it. find a service center.
Easy warranty fix…..call em or hit up a retailer for a swap.
Warranty it. It’s probably just below the voltage threshold for the charger to charge the battery. The low voltage may have damaged cells so although you could charge it and bring it back to life it might now be the same again…and doing that would probably void your warranty, I’m sure there are electronics inside that can see if the batteries were hooked up to something not-Dewalt.
There is a way to “jump ” it ..to bring it back…it’s on you tube…but I don’t recommend it…listen to the guys above, just swap it out for free….shit happens, they make a lot of packs, always a bad apple somewhere or like said , the battery drained to low..Dewalt will hook you up…
Well I sent an email to DeWALT support telling them the situation. Hopefully they reply back soon.
I’ve already replace one 6.0 about a month ago. Had another go out this week. Has anyone notice how hot the dual flexvolt charger (that came with miter saw) gets?

no but I haven’t really used mine much.

What’s funny is that I got into arguments about being able to do this. Everyone said it was for NiCad only, then a couple guys on youtube do it and now everyone agrees it will work.

Just find a service center and contact them direct. You don’t even need a receipt since the battery is so new.
how do I know a place is a service center?
Lithium cells have very strict tolerances that must be adhered to. Don’t go over voltage, don’t go under. If you’ve managed to deep-discharge it, it is possible to “jump start” it, but it’ll never be the same again. They have plenty of protection built-in to protect the cells, but you can’t protect a duff cell. Duff cells happen, that’s part of mass-production, especially with lithium cells.
If it’s borked, just let Dewalt swap it.
Just saw on IG someone jump a dead pack by connecting wires on the positive and negative terminals to a charged pack, held them maybe 5 seconds, enough to bring life back to charge properly, but this can only be a temp fix if it happens once it would be likely to happen again due to an internal failure, just warranty it

so DeWALT replied back and they said I can ship my battery to some DeWALT place in Kansas and has already given me an email with a shipping label.
Do I ship the battery to have DeWALT look at it or do I try one of the locations from the 68959 zip search on DeWALT’s website for authorized service centers?
I only really found one place that looked like it sold DeWALT items so I figured I would be able to try em on Saturday. I would’ve expected Builders or Home Depot to show up but guess not? I am in no rush I got 6 other batteries to use in the meantime.

you’re in the middle of nowhere!
looks like kansas is the closest service center to you. i would just ship it to them.
It’s usually faster and easier shipping the item.
Did you try to just exchange it from Home Depot or where you bought it ? If not just ship it….I never did the service center thing, but guys on here have with great results…
Builders or Home Depot don’t repair tools, of course they aren’t service centers. If you are looking for a place that is a DeWALT service center, Service centers might be located in a larger local hardware store or even in an electric motor repair business. Chances are good that they may actually be a service center for more than one brand especially with the Stanley Black and Decker family.
I am fortunate that I have a service center about 25 miles from the house in Rocking R hardware and their big fall tool sate is 2 weeks away where manufacturer reps will be in to demonstrate some of the latest and greatest products around as well as offer good discounts for the sale.
I’m probably just ship it with the shipping label DeWALT sent me. Sure I may be out of one battery but when I got 6 other flexvolt 2/6 batteries its not that big of a deal.

They are pretty good with getting stuff back to you quick. I paid to ship my dual charger to a service center (I contacted them directly, should have called DeWalt) and had a new one less than a week later. I did contact DeWalt about a busted DS450, used the shipping label, and got a new one a little over a week later. Not too bad, all told.
Soooooop what happened @Jronman?
Just had this issue, I have to call Dewalt. I’ve got another 60v which spent last weekend running my Flexvolt circ. Love that saw.
The best circ saw @ChrisK …

Yeah, I have to agree. I was trenching lap joints into PT 4×4 for a while, pain in the butt but that saw had no problems, doesn’t bog down at all.
This doesn’t bode well, I hope mine don’t go south! Is there a pattern? Are they going tits-up after heavy use? From being dropped?
@Framer joe one of my flex 2/6 batteries that I have hardly used was not charging even though it was low on charge. The charger may appear to charge for a short bit then the light on the charger would show as solid like the battery was fully charged which it clearly wasn’t. I sent it in and DeWALT sent back a brand new battery.
I did have a battery drop onto the garage floor. Ima guess this could’ve been the one that dropped. Can’t say for sure. I have 3 I use for work which clearly show signs of use at work doing demo and whatnot. They got scratches and whatnot but I got 4 that I use in my garage and they clearly look almost new. They have little to no scratches or other noticable wear or dirtyness. The bad pack was one of the 4 nicer ones.

I got my Flexvolt this winter so cannot say but at least it’s not a crap tool like several I have had from Another manufacturer!

I’ll just keep using and report back to this thread should I suffer a failure.
On this subject, AvE did a teardown on a flexvolt pack and I’m sure he said the method for switching between voltages is not a simple mechanical switch, but a more complicated set of electronics. I’ll have to try and trace the vid and watch it again, this could be making them fragile?
Found it, entertaining guy.
@Tug ..rest easy. No Dewalt battery is fragile (pronounced..fra-geel-ee) lol…let me know if you know what movie that came from ?.. back to Dewalt…..I have dozens of flex6 and 9 and 5 and 4 and 3 and 2…no problems ,,,rain snow heat cold…
……shit happens and a bad battery can happen, the good news is ,Dewalt will send you a new one ….so fear not …..now use a another other company’s batteries in those same conditions and see what happens…(I know the answer).

that would be my favorite movie.
I’m guessing the answer is the Germans, Japs, and Milwaukee will probably replace the battery?
@Framer joe I watched an sds comparison vid, filmed in the far east I think, and they actually put the battery packs in a cement mixer with water and left them to get battered and wet for quite some time! Not all survived, hilti definitely did survive, can’t remember all of the results, it was ages ago that I watched it. Must’ve cost them a fortune to put together!
Hilti…hmmm ..IR…hmmm. Those are the best. ,the “Bugatti ” of companies…if they made everything I needed in framing I’d be all in…..i saw an Asian YT vid on Makita blowing away alll companies in an impact wrench test and the Dewalt was smoking supposedly…hmmm ya don’t think so……..
Some companies are the best at what they do, Hilti concrete..IR impact wrenches pneumatic tools, I never claim Dewalt is god…it’s in my opinion the best for a framer ,construction company..a wide range of superior tools and batteries. ..
As a sparks, I just love quality drills; combis, sds, impact. All of em.
Hopefully my yellow packs won’t give me any grief. Cheers for the encouraging words. :-*
Must be Italian
As a “sparks” @Tug…? Is that a welder ? Or electrician?

Electrician.
Just a lemon battery. It happens. That’s what warranty is for 🙂

Lithium manufacturing does seem to throw out a lot of lemons, my concern was the complex electronics in these packs, in my book complex = fragile.

Could be true ! I think a mechanical switch inside those flexvolt batteries, for the current they draw maybe would be too hard ? The contacts would have to be rather big. Pretty much as big as the contact rails on top of the battery but then you’d need 3 sets inside the battery.
I guarantee the battery is just fine as built…I abuse mine and no problems…

Heres the link bro!
That’s the best price I’ve seen…..i ordered another pair…..I think Milwaukee has a 199 deal for 2/9ah plus a charger………thanks man !

You’re telling me. I’d be paying nearly double that on Amazon UK. I ordered a pair as I have a friend over in Miami at the moment willing to carry them back to UK………then I found out that all the airlines are limiting transportation of Li-Ion batteries to 160Wh (checked or carry-on). If it was me, I’d take the chance but I’d rather not ask my friend to run the TSA gauntlet so I cancelled the order.
check this link for battery shipping flexvolt
this should help

That’s a very helpful link. Thanks.
But asking my buddy to act as a mule is ok. Asking him to negotiate with a pissed off TSA inspector is a favour too far! I’ll have to time my next US visit with a similar deal.
