This sort of chaps me arse… I just bought the Dewalt flexvot tracksaw this last weekend and now Makita releases their version of an X2 saw. Would have been nice to be able to compare the two before the purchase. Anyways; https://www.makitatools.com/products/details/XPS01PTJ
They are getting smart and are offering the kit with MakPacs. Hope to see more of that in the future.
ToolNut already has a listing for it on their site.

Woah! Yeah, I guess I didn’t realize they were coming out with this! I saw the 36v worm drive that they came out with, but didn’t realize they were going with the track saw too. Interesting.

Have you by chance tried the 36v worm drive? I have seen a few videos on it and it looks awesome.

Nope not yet. Belgium is unfortunately rather slow with bringing out new tools. Gonna be August before I get the chance :). But every reviewer seems te rave about it!

Yeah, that’s what I have seen too! Let us know how you like it!
I got to play with the Makita Plunge a few weeks back. Very cool. Even has bluetooth to hook up to a vac.
i really want the makita track saw. will have to see final pricing plus rails to see how close it will be to a festool track saw.

Will do 🙂 august/September will bring all the new goodies to Belgium 🙂
@rrich1 ToolNut is listing the kit at $510. http://www.toolnut.com/makita-xps01ptj-cordless-brushless-36v-lxt-6-1-2-track-saw-kit.html
with a ship date Aug 7th. Skin is around $350.
Funny, the kit doesn’t include a track?

I noticed that too. The rails are interchangeable with Festool by the way if you have any floating around.

The saw is awesome. Powerful and just a beast.
Anyone have any experience with this – https://www.kregtool.com/store/c48/saw-attachments/p425/accu-cut/

I never have but I think I have seen ads for it. I actually just got me a kreg k5 pocket hole jig. Might be a nice option for those who don’t wan’t to spend the extra money on a track saw.
Hat is actually a really sweet set up. And based on the included equipment you could buy two sets and attach them for full length plywood cuts for relatively cheap money.

The Bluetooth vacs aren’t out yet. Maybe that’s why they do not mention it yet ? 🙂
Seems a bit odd that the two new units they are just now releasing, XCV07 & XCV06, do not look as though they have bluetooth capability. I read through the manual for these and there is no mention of it at all, either there or on the website page for the vacs. Makes no sense that there would be a new release at this time without that feature and it would be almost useless to purchase one at this time if they do not have it. Marketing fail in the making.

They could at least say bluetooth feature coming soon or works well when paired with our new bluetooth vac coming soon. or something similar to indicate it has bluetooth and should be paired with the coming soon bluetooth vac.
All I know is the one I tried had the bluetooth functioning, as did the 10″ mitre saw. They were both connected to the same functioning bluetooth vac. I imagine they would be released at a similar time… but who knows…

Looks quite good. I might look into getting a couple of those.

Well it’s hardly new. We had those vacs in Europe for more then a year. Makita USA was waaaay late with introducing em it seems.

Which begs the question; why bother when they won’t be compatible with upcoming tool releases?
There is no way I will purchase one at the price point they are currently at without the bluetooth ability.

The FlexVolt kit doesn’t either.
@Bremon actually the DCS520ST1 comes with a medium track but I’m not sure if it is an official kit since it is not listed on DeWALT’s website. Also seems like very few stores offer it.
Interesting. Hadn’t seen that kit, only the DCS520T1 kit, which doesn’t have the track.

Home Depot offers it and maybe one or 2 others. You ordered your flex track saw yet?

Not yet, still undecided on this vs a corded Festool. Or, if I win the lottery, a cordless Festool lol though I hear that has less power than the corded version despite two batteries.
And the corded Festool isn’t a power champ already :/

Can’t speak on that one but I do have the HKC55. If you run the 15v batteries it definitely has less power than the 18v (naturally). For me I can’t say I would use the cordless one over the corded (I love my corded) as I use the intergrated DC. I have not tried the cordless track saw though.
Looks like the street price on the kit is going to be $499 (without track). Also, it will have positive stops at twenty two and a half degrees as well as at forty five degrees, and a pre-cut depth stop for scoring the material. This, to me, is a major advantage over the Dewalt as the DCS520 lacks these features.
The disappointing item is the lack of a dust bag in either the Makita or the Dewalt. I am not seeing any optional parts numbers for either brand.
I may end up buying the Makita so I can compare the cut power of the two.

I don’t think I have ever seen a dust bag for a plunge saw ?

Yeah Festool uses them for the cordless variants.

If I’m not mistaken it has a scoring feature but I could be wrong.

If you are talking about the Dewalt, then no there is no preset stop for scoring.
Scoring preset is Makita and mafell only atm 🙂
I just got the tracksaw it is amazing I think it’s the most powerful cordless tracksaw on the market if you are on the fence don’t be it’s worth every penny!!
I plan on picking one up at some point, but I am not in a great hurry to do so as I am a bit over my budget already this year and will wait for a Makita sale to come around before pulling the trigger.
Hdcarpentry from Instagram really seems to love it also.
It rivals the Festool he said but alot more bang for buck
Current special offer for the kit: Acme Tools has a promotion ongoing for the kit through 31 Jan 2018. Kit plus free track, plus free extra pair of 5.0 batteries…
