But did you have fun?!

I always have fun playing poker…..

It’s crazy to think, one could make a living playing poker. I wouldn’t be greedy, just make enough to live on, and buy a few toys once in awhile.

I could don’t kid yourself……every time I sit at a poker table I’m there to win regardless of who is sitting at that table. I have entered several hundred or more tournaments that I don’t know a sole……most of them come with chips/money and leave with knowledge…..

You can’t win every tournament so you may as well try to win the one your in!…

The wife and I both play regularly each week between 3 different leagues plus a couple home games now and then with friends.

Aside from the friends nights its more about banter and chit chatting rather than the W but all the rest is all serious…

I’m a very quiet player, I am known for sitting at a table of strangers for 5 to 8 hours without saying a word doing the same mechanics of play over and over…..I pause the same amount of time with a monster hand as I do with a bluff……I’m there to make money not poker friends I have enough of those….lol

how does one win a game of poker?

depending on the game but the most common now a days is texas holdem, if it is a cash game there may not be a winner because you can get up and leave at any time. But if it is a tournament each player receives X amount of chips for a buy-in amount when you have all the chips you are the winner depending on amount of players there can be more than 1 place finisher to receive a prize ….

I did my 21st birthday at Hard Rock in Ft. Lauderdale. I’ve only ever played with friends and family, watched it on TV, and thought I’d give it a shot.

Bad idea. The pace of the game was not at all what I was expecting, no time to deliberate and think about moves, boom boom boom. I lasted at that table for about 45min and was down $150. Have a nice day folks, back to drinking and video poker for me, lol. Won’t do that again. I’ll be sticking to Blackjack, much more my speed.

cash table I assume? don’t get me wrong but many times regular players that are at a place playing all the time sense the new player and jump on them. First time I went to Winnipeg casino actually both of them. I played the cash tables I didn’t play a hand for about 45 minutes just to figure them out what they do how they do it. bought in for $200 cashed out 5.5 hours later @$1375 first night at mcPhillips, second night did same thing at the Regent same thing bought in for $200 cashed out $900 and change.

we go there 3 or 4 times a year, it’s about a 8 hr drive, same people same game same winnings for me on average, and I can tell you why, it’s because they are playing the pot not the player or the cards……I play the player first and foremost the pot is a bonus……..cards some times don’t even matter…..I also show my bluffs as often as I can so they think that is all I’m doing……and of course I’m not so I get them again.

It’s like a major league pitcher, mechanics mechanics mechanic, I practice them so I do the same thing over and over so they can’t get a read on me……I don’t talk or chit chat about previous hands nothing don’t give nothing out.

Yea cash. They smelled blood in the water and I knew that was going to be the result, don’t get me wrong. I don’t know the game well enough. But it was the speed that killed me. If I had time to look, think, and read the result would have been better. Guess I thought there was going to be some kind of moments of suspense but nobody was taking longer than one or two seconds to check cards and throw chips. Full table, I’d make a move and it would be my turn again in 10 seconds, and that’s just silly quick to me even for pro’s more less my noob ass.

I watched part of a hold’em tournament in Vegas. I watched long enough to realize most of those people were far more skilled and dedicated far more time to it than I.

Ill stick to video poker and blackjack

comp56Member since Sep 2014

i pick up on the littlest things, I sat at a table observing the players, I watched one guy take down pot after pot, but I realized every second of so hand he would bet out by grabbing his smaller chips first then the larger ones so a bet of $70 he would grab 4 $5 chips and 2 $25 chips and everyone folds but if he bet the same amount but grabbed his chips the other way 2 $25 then 4 $5  chips he had a monster hand so when I started to play cause I sit and watch for sometimes a half hour, I would re-raise him if he grabbed the smaller chips first and sure enough he would fold. so his tell was larger chips first he had something smaller chips first he was bluffing. he probably didn’t even know he was doing it but I did. another guy would start a conversation with the guy beside him when he made a bet but didn’t do it every time, guess what if he did he was bluffing…..

I’ll stick to scratch-off lottery tickets…  My luck is pretty much nil, though I will come out ahead on occasion.  The biggest problem is that I’m horrible about cashing the winning tickets in.  There are probably $50 worth of winners in my vehicle right now.  😒

I am playing on my phone through the Illinois Lotto.  Don’t get tickets every week.  Scratch off is my go to also but never have any luck.
