It looks like Ridgid is coming out with an 18v air compressor. They’re doing a Facebook Live stream tomorrow at 11am EST. That silhouette certainly looks like a compressor to me.
Looks like it’s $199 and only 1 gallon.

Wow 2 battery design too that’s pretty cool!

I’m not sure how I feel about this unit.
On one hand, pretty cool being battery operated.
On the other hand, I can’t imagine it running very long plus it is such a small supply. You can only use small nailers.

Wouldn’t be bad for light trim jobs

Yea this for the guy that still wants to use pneumatic guns while still doing trim work but wants something super convenient. If you were invested in a ton of pneumatics this might be worth it.
or to fill up tires too
Wow,, very innovative…wish Dewalt had it,,very clever ,one of those tools that you can throw big batteries on to get more runtime,I think it said 1200 brads that’s a lot of work…don’t know about noise level…if it’s a high pitch thing then …eh..but great job rigid ! .,,I still might buy it and I’m alll cordless anyway…it’s it’s cute..
So as @Hugh Jass lamented about the belt sander:
..
and then there’s this cordless (single or dual) battery compressor, plus their cordless trim router (everyone is raving about)
And NOW:
Cordless jobsite propane heater LOL that’s definitely a first haha

Wow Ridigd is really going crazy lately with the new releases of odd tools.
A hybrid fuel/battery tool?! What the hell is happening over there…
The price isn’t bad either $129 for the bare tool. http://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-18-Volt-Hybrid-Forced-Air-Heater-R860424B/301184551

..
7 hours with a 5ah battery that isn’t bad I’m sure that’s the 30k btu setting.

So I apparently don’t really understand the concept of a propane heater. The power comes from the propane tank. You might get a spark from the battery to light it, but why else would you need a battery? Perhaps there’s a fan involved?

Yes, there’s a fan to blow the heat out and help the combustion.
Rigid has pushed me to the edge. They are releasing tools I want. I just don’t want to start another battery collection.
I probably wouldn’t buy the compressor. I don’t have a use for it. It’s cool though.
If I were going to buy another heater, I would buy the cordless over a corded model. I’m not really in the market for more heaters, at this time. They are something that last a long time.
Now the new belt sander, palm sander, and router. That’s not fair. Putting them right there in front of me. They are almost as bad as the girl scouts set up in front of the store. Who can resist cookies? Then you get in the store and they are tempting me again. Who can resist cordless tools?
A little more on the serious side. I went to Home Depot Saturday. Thought I would look at what Rigid had. I’ve seen a few guys have stuff on the job. Radio, drills, circular saw. Now with these sanders out, I wanted to see what else was offered.
Almost nothing there. Your standard drill and impact. Then drill/impact combo. What is going on there?
I can order them online, but I wanted to get my hands on them.
Oh well. Rant is over. I just want some cool tools.
Ridgid has been coming out with some really cool cordless tools
They announced a hand vac today too

Same here, I hardly ever get a chance to go to HD, but when I head north that way, i have to stop in. All they have is the standard setup, with a few exceptions like the new Flexvolt grinder and miter saw. I really wanted to see some of the tools you’re referring too as well, but no dice. Maybe it’s a lower populated area, but i was disappointed nonetheless…
I’m a Dewalt guy…some Ryobi,(my main second level tools) Milwaukee,Bosch, and one rigid corded trim router……..I’m about to give in and make rigid my new second battery platform…..damn that’s cool tools…..I want that heater, compressor,router,sander..( my Ryobi router, sander are getting old) No Dewalt hope in sight….so I’m almost ready to make rigid my second platform…..really cool, useful tools……props to rigid…..if 1 more cool rigid tool comes out ….I’m in

Ridgid wasn’t like that till recently they were not really releasing anything interesting for awhile till recently. I wonder if they got new management in there maybe someone from Milwaukee possibly? TTI is the corporate parent of both.
Thanks,,,I get the whole tti thing it’s very interesting what rigid is doing (tti) that cordless compressor will work great installing windows on new homes…no dragging a long hose around, the house or reroute it..,a 20ft hose and that compressor in a man lift a boom ,window install with a roofing gun is now so easy…..and that heater should be amazing when framing a house..no nasty kerosene smell…

AEG is marketed in more countries than Milwaukee. Hence the rebranding of some AEG tools as Milwaukee/Ridgid.
AEG is a pretty big part of TTI.
Ridgid is US/Canada only.

I also just found out that AEG used to be a top end German brand until they got bought out and went to China. THought that was intersting
That makes sense, TTI’s M.O. seems to be scooping up well known brands, moving manufacturing to china and maximizing profits with lower manufacturing costs. They certainly proved that Chinese-made tools are worth buying.KnarlyCarl wrote:

They managed to influence the whole industry.

If rigid (aeg) rebranded or not continue pumping out useful tools …they will get people to buy in…myself included …..unless Ryobi is going to be pumping out the same tools soon….I’m in that platform…..heard of 6 and 9 ah Ryobi batteries but don’t know when,,. I see the 2pack of 4ah at HD for 69$ that’s a good deal
This is perfect for pressure testing natural gas lines. Allot of plumbers are in the rigid line, primarily the see-snake camera system, and have the 18v batteries already. The tank is small enough to keep on the van and you dont need a large reservoir when youre only charging 5 psi. I am gonna pick one of these up.

I just use the Ryobi power inflator myself for that test.
The service line requires 90psi, which is a little much for the Ryobi, but it’s rare we need to do that, usually the gas company takes care of that line. Pressurizing drain lines is also too much for the power inflator, so I can definitely see the appeal of this Ridgid compressor.

I have both platforms but will take a RIDGID variant over a ryboi variant all day, ryboi stuff is good in its own right but I still have trust issues with them, worst jig saw ever!

Ya ..Jimbo..I’m with ya on some of Ryobi tools….I had to jump into Ryobi for a cordless orbital sander and trim router ,one else had both at the time. Still Dewalt doesn’t have em…being a Dewalt guy it’s frustrating…but I do love Flexvolt….No power on my jobs ,so it’s a generator or all cordless…I choose all cordless……I seriously contemplating jumping into rigid as a backup….if they keep ipumping out ..”other” tools….

Thing about RIDGID it’s closer to Milwaukee especially their batteries, it’s a strong line up

Do you notice Rigid tools and batteries are heavier then Dewalt or Milwaukee ?

Rigid uses a whole heap of metal in their parts and gearing as they advertise All metal gears and housing. Dewalt uses powdered metal gears and nylon housing same with milwaukee. Also the 5ah batteries are 20700, Milwaukee and dewalt 18/20v systems still only use 18650, except for maybe dewalt’s 6ah They look big enough for 20700.
Interesting but heavy

A lot of hd stores don’t carry the full line and their tools act almost like a limited release, Random orbital sander, blower, radio, that I don’t get about ridgid

Another brand that has the “other tools” is Makita and Milwaukee. Makita with the odd ball cordless tools users never thought they needed like a fan, grass shears, or cooled jacket. Milwaukee with e, p, and hvac/r specific tools. I think Milwaukee and DeWALT are gonna have some great June events this year with a lot of great announcements.
I hear that……guys at work love makita…they do have a very strong line up of tools…..it’s a solid company,I’d say 3rd best behind Milwaukee and Dewalt….being a Dewalt guy I’m heavily invested…if I bring too many ” RED” tools home , my garage will revolt against me…doors won’t open, the floor will crack, sheet rock will start to fall off..the heater won’t work…..lol……but Milwaukee is a great company they just didn’t have nailers when I started buying into Dewalt

I posted on page 1. Not being able to get my hands on the tools. While on a trip, I stopped at Quincy, Illinois. They had a good selection of Rigid. Also DeWalt, Milwaukee, and Ryobi. (of course they had Ryobi)
I was impressed to see how much they carried, in each lineup.
I had a couple observations. The Rigid batteries were heavy. Very heavy. A 5.0 ah Rigid felt the same as a Flexvolt battery. Didn’t have the side by side, but by memory, they felt the same.
The Rigid light were what I was interested in. Looks like the flood light with the tripod is almost the same price as the Milwaukee tripod and light. The tripod was the same size also. I had just assumed the Rigid would be smaller.
Ya I bought into Ridgid couple weeks ago…all cordless…trim router, orbital sander, compressor, belt sander, …I retired my Ryobi cordless and replaced them with Ridgid….stuff Dewalt doesn’t make.,cordless…..have to say I love the cordless Ridgid tools I bought….
Stopped by HD this morning and found the same deals except, WHAT! The compressor has dropped to $50.03! Thinking it was a misprinted label I found the display, which still had the $150.06 sticker on it from last week. I hurried home and boxed up the one I bought exactly one week ago, and just in I boxed up the vacuum and brought it and the unopened starter kit along just in case. Glad I did; the returns associate called the tool associate to ensure she could do a price adjustment. He wasn’t thrilled about it but told her she’d have to do a return. For my part, I asked about taking the same items instead of sticking HD with a slightly used vacuum and compressor and saved $108 when I bought everything again.
Fortunately, there were no starter kits left in stock, otherwise I’d have purchased the two remaining compressors and gotten another free starter kit.
Damn dog, great deal !
