Yea a lot of times when you see a new ridgid tool you get a stripped down ryobi version, they did the same with the sanders last year but I’d shell out a little more cash for the orange option

$69 is a pretty good price I’ve heard a lot of good things about the ridgid

And then we’ll all shell out just a bit more for the red version!

Just got my hands on it and it seems very nice.  Haven’t used it much.  Just ran it through some pine.  Pretty impressed for a $70 tool.

How’s the vibration? That’s why I noticed about ryobi tools there is little to no dampening with them

It seemed fine, but again I just ran it quick just to try it.  It’s pretty cold outside so I was a wimp and didn’t want to stand out there.  Friday should be warm in the 30’s, so i will give it a try with some oak and other wood.

Mike and I both want a cordless trim router. We were considering trying the existing Ryobi one, but maybe should wait for this. Or perhaps the RIDGID will appear in Aus under the AEG brand.

“This palm router has micro-adjustment for precise depth control and cuts over 600 linear ft. per charge”

that is quite a bold statement……that is like trimming 25 sheets of 4’x8′ plywood on a charge?….wow

Do you guys have any cordless routers down there?

dwainMember since Aug 2013

yeah I thought the same but how much are they cutting? Just laminate? A tiny bevel? Or a decent roundover? Just don’t know.

Yea how big and awkward of a battery? Imagine a 9.0 on a router?

I looked at the older version Ryobi and that one had some high marks.  Hopefully they will get the new one down there soon.

well that is the thing, if the batteries are getting bigger better faster…..to big and it will defeat the purpose….

dwainMember since Aug 2013

yeah lots hope. Though I’d rather the BL Ridgid one.

I don’t even like putting a 4.0 on my cordless sander it’s bulky enough with a 2.0

swingin a M18 fuel drill with a 9.0 ah battery over your head all afternoon will become a chore in short order

The Ryobi one is great and last a long time on a 4.0…really doesn’t feel awkward cause your gripping the middle…the ridgid one is a little better …

Here’s a video from Australia.

This is the older model. The 2016 version is based on the ridgid model, but is brushed instead of brushless. I’ve been looking for one locally but non of the home depots near me have them in stock.
