I’m thinking about getting the combo kit with one free tool. My question is: Can I register the bare tool to get the warranty?
Yes the only items that aren’t eligible for the LSA are batteries not in kits

Purchased from an authorized dealer as well. If you buy from CL or EBay, you’re likely not covered.
