God Australian tool prices suck 🙁 I should totally be selling gray market tools 🙁
eh its not too bad considering their minimum wage is around 24$ or so and the currency rate that turns to about 700 usd.
Includes 2 of the 6.0ah batteries and a charger! I forgot to add! They are also running a deal for 4 of the brushless tools (impact driver, combo drill, circ saw + grinder) which includes the redemption of 3 x 6.0ah batteries on top of the 2 included!

if that brushless grinder is anything like the brushed one, eh nope.
The new AEG DUAL 18V Brushless 254mm (10″) Slide Compound Mitre Saw cuts the cord to meet the demands of today’s tradies. It is built with an 18V Brushless DC motor providing AC cutting performance without compromising on blade size or run time. With up to 600 cuts 90mm x 45mm pine on 2 x 6.0Ah batteries even the most active trade user won’t run out of charge! This product sets the pace with features such as dual bevel, full size 254mm blade, laser guide and LED sight light just to name a few.
Dual 18V system means the saw runs on either 1 x 18V battery or 2 x 18V in parallel for extended runtime and extra power
Full size 254mm blade produces 91mm x 305mm depth and cross cut capacity
18V Brushless motor provides 3900rpm AC cutting performance
Dual Bevel design – move the saw not the workpiece
Mitre detent for all common angles with bypass option and lock
That’s cool about the ability to run off one or two batteries.
Yeah the price difference is put into perspective with the wages and currency exchange
this coming to NA markets?
Looks bad ass

yeah or Milwaukee. I heard Milwaukee has a dual battery saw in the works

If you look at the AEG website, there are quite a few models that are shared with both Milwaukee and Ridgid. Hopefully it’s Ridgid, Milwaukee keeps jacking up prices.

@HiltiWpg guys at work specifically said they tested a milwaukee dual battery miter saw so i’m guessing it will be a milwaukee saw.

Who were the guys that tested it out?, It might be worth taking back my single battery miter for a dual one.

2 guys at the place I work at got to test out some tools and claimed they tested a Milwaukee miter saw with 2 batteries powering it. That reminds me guys at work are going to a big builders breakfast next week. They should be able to get info about a lot of new tools there.
I’ve heard rumors of this in the RIDGID branding, they’ve been going crazy with their tools, too bad you boys down under pay an arm and a dick for tools

Yes we do but the Australian minimum wages is higher then the US, as some one previously said. I noticed a fair few tools in HD that cost more then in Australia.
Milwaukee 9ah $169-$199 USD, Australia $185AUD
Makita blower i think was $69USD in HD, its $71aud here. Same for the stick vacs, cost more in HD.
There was a few other things but can’t think of them at the moment.
I picked up an oil impulse drive from tool nut and it ended up cost $280aud. They costs $570aud in the tool shops here.
Are AEG tools and batteries cross compatible with Ridgid tools and batteries?

You can even take an AEG pack and throw it on a ridgid tool or vice versa

The chargers can interchange when charging batteries, IE Rigid can charge in a AEG charger and vice versa.
Its just that AEG Australia has australian voltages, and Rigid has american voltages they arent 110v-240v
they’re built to the market respectively, so if you want to use a rigid charger in australia you have to use a transformer to make their outlets into american voltages. Thats what I did when I went there.

You guys have one for testing yeah? So far what are your thoughts? Unless it’s gonna be a spoiler for the upcoming review haha

Mike has it, I haven’t played with it yet. But it should be uploaded in a couple of weeks 🙂
Just got this saw and it’s fantastic! The mechanism is so smooth and capacity is pretty decent too. I’ve been running it off a pair of 4.0ah batteries but I’ve got 2×6.0ah batteries on the way.
I’ve played with the Milwaukee FUEL mitre saw and I must say the AEG beats it. Maybe a bit controversial but the Milwaukee sometimes feels like it struggles and the rail system they use does allow lateral twisting whereas the AEG is solid.
The one thing I wish AEG would add is the LED shadow line system instead of the laser as the laser will get knocked around while the saw is in my van. I’ve got a job for the saw tomorrow so will post some photos and video of it in action.

Keen to see the video and how it goes! Looks like a decent unit and good value! Running on one battery or 2 is good!
Im sure it has an LED Light for a sight line indicator, from having a look at my local Bunnings I’m sure it’s just a button on the top or on the side? It’s listed on the Bunnings website as having one.

This saw does have an LED light which is great for lighting the cut area but it has a laser line to show the cut line – this can obviously be knocked off true by constant vibration.
The Milwaukee (and DeWalt I believe) have a system where an LED shines at an angle on both sides of the saw blade which creates a perfect shadow of the blade. This guarantees a perfect cut line mark overtime and doesn’t matter if you swap the blades out as the shadow will change.
I’ll hopefully get a video up of this tonight.
Martin
I find the blade shadow on the 790 is hard to see in bright areas. I wonder if a colored led would aid in visibility when the saw is used in bright areas.
Hi Dwain
Nice video, I watched it earlier when it came up on my YouTube feed. You guys have covered everything but here is a quick video I made showing how smooth it is to use:
By no means is my video a review, it’s simply a test with different cuts.
A few observations, the dust collection is great but I had been using the saw all morning and didn’t realise the bag was full until the dust was flying everywhere. Secondly, the rubber dust chute extension piece sometimes gets in the way with larger material so needs to be removed. Lastly, I had to remove the fence on the RH side when doing compound cuts as the battery mount kept catching it.
I was using 4.0ah batteries but I must say the runtime was impressive. I can only imagine the runtime on the 2 6.0ah batteries I’ve got coming.

Afternoon gents, got one of these but it is suffering an issue. When depressing the trigger the blade jerks and the led and laser turn off immediately. Blade doesn’t spin up. Wondering if there is an electrical issue with the motor brake. Any one else experienced any issues like this ?
