Agreed. That grinder is likely to be my first FlexVolt kit.

Well if CPO gets their head out of their ass I’ll give my critical review and let you know how it is.
Sounds good!

There are so many asterisks on that page I thought for a moment the Dewalt trademark was for 20V MAX* instead of 20V MAX. There are:
************************************ (36) total *
****************************** (30) point to a reference
******** (8) are doubled
****** (6) are the reference
**** (4) point from one reference to another
Hilariuos!!!!*
*terms and conditions apply
Most humorous part is the majority of the asterisks apply to being honest about voltage: 18, 54, 108.
Has any of you lot wall mounted your dewalt tough system boxes ? Is there brackets available for this in the UK ? I want to screw some to the rack in my van but the only brackets I can find are spare ones for the trolley !

I’m not sure if the wall brackets are available in Canada yet either but they are coming. I’m counting on them for my workshop setup.

After what I posted here during the 60v leak I haven’t heard a single word about the wall brackets. I’m looking forward to pricing so I can decide if I’m going to do a rack in my trailer or not.
Just an update, thought this was Milwaukee vs Dewalt worthy:
20v Max 6.0 drop in November. They are a bit bigger than a 5.0. I’m assuming because they use high discharge cells like the FlexVolt batteries. I’d bet money on them being a better price than Milwaukee crackhead pricing on the M18 6.0.

That’s interesting, let’s see what price they put on it

Interesting…It’s not clear to me what the plan is here, I’d figure they’d abandon the 6ah 20v and make people buy the flexvolt so the groundwork is there for people to buy tools from both platforms.
Only thing I can figure is they’re going to drop prices for all 20v batteries to leave room to make it cheaper than the flexvolt, but that still doesn’t make as much sense to me.
Makes sense to me. Some people won’t branch out into FlexVolt at all. Maybe someone else wants maximum runtime in their Tough System radio, where a FlexVolt battery won’t fit. Some
people, like me, probably think it’s crazy to stick a FlexVolt battery on the majority of tools: I don’t want a 15 cell pack for most things if I can use 10 instead. I was a bit surprised yesterday at how large the FlexVolt packs are, and the 9.0 will be even bigger. I’m sure part of it is just keeping up with the Jones’: every other color is doing it. I like that they are giving the end user more solutions and leaving it to us to decide what makes sense for our needs. I doubt we see a price drop. A 5.0 is $80-90 CAD FlexVolt is $115-200 depending on how and where you buy it. If this comes out at $100-120 I’ll be both impressed and happy. I’ll also laugh at Milwaukee.
Milwaukee sometimes has decent deals on batteries but at their normal price they seem quite high for a battery.
So both the m18 9ah packs and the fkexvolt are 15 cell? But the fkexvolt is 20(18) volt is 6ah right? Seems like they could have easily made it a 20v max 9ah tho bc it has the same number of cells…?
Good grief my phone is STILL autocorrect to fkexvolt for whatever reason lol . Flexvolt I meant
F#**volt ?? ?

The basic FlexVolt pack has 15 2.0 ah cells for the higher discharge rate. They are 18650.
The M18 9.0 is 15 3.0 18650. The 9.0 FlexVolt and 6.0 20v Max both use 3.0 cells but they are bigger form factor for higher discharge rate to avoid the issues Bosch had with their 6.0 being worse than a 5.0 when taxed heavily. I may be misremembering but I believe the 9.0 was the plan all along but was taking more time and they didn’t want to delay the entire system so the basic 2.0/6.0 was the decided solution.

Until you see how ridiculous an 887 or even 996 looks with a FlexVolt pack hanging off its backside 😛

Anyone who would put one on said tool would be a fool to do so in the first place. 2.0 is the only battery that should be on small, workhorse tools IMO. I can go decking all day with my 887 and 3 2.0ah batteries without the added weight and size of anything bigger.
Yeah, I agree but I don’t mind the 10 cell packs for extra grunt. 15 is ridiculous. Btw Hugh, I believe my grinder shipped last Thursday.

CPO?
Nope. All I get is an extra battery, not a free tool.

Then rejoice, since you probably will get yours before I get mine, despite HD having many in stock all around me I could have today.

Cancel your order and take your business to HD?
I don’t know how that would work since I received my free tool already. They’d probably charge me retail meaning I’d spend an extra $230 by not sticking it out.
Lol well the wait is the price you pay for the free tool I guess. Worth it in the end. Battery promo isn’t as good. Unless it was a Milwaukee promo for M18 6.0 which practically cost more than tools.
The lack of transparency is what bugs me. If you were getting married in Vegas next week, and the airline hit you up saying upgrade your flight to first class free of charge you’d take it right?….only to find it the flight is 3 months from now.
Still a good deal…but you’re screwed in the meantime, and not just by your bride to be.

Gotcha.
Fast. Cheap. Good. Pick any two, you lose the third
You could be in my boat…. Took the 15% off at the fourth. Now here I am half a flippin’ month after the “ship date”. No saw. No free tool. No peace!? I call and ask for a shipping update… “Imminently”. I don’t know about you…. But imminent apparenty has a different meaning to me. I call and ask for the free bare tool (15% isn’t THAT much…) “sure, only if you are willing to cancel and re-order”…. At the back of the line! Even though CPO isn’t paying for that free tool…. Just crap!! I’m about ready to cancel my order and call acme to see if they will match my order on a promise to only deal with Acme from now on.

Acme is now also offering the free tool [emoji481]
@ToughToolReviews on Instragram
Acme does also have the hog ring impact instead of the detent pin but does not offer the 3/4 version.
CPO has the 3/4 back in stock and I almost bought it but I can’t even talk myself into buying a grinder or a circular saw that I don’t need to get a free impact that I could use but don’t need even after I talked myself into buying a Metabo rotohammer and grinder combo and a makita impact driver straight from Japan that I don’t need this week. I am a disgrace to the forum. 🙁
Lol Sterc, what I took away from that post is you still ended up with new tools recently. No disgrace detected. We all do have budgets still, no need to be in the poor house just to post in the “what did you buy” thread. Most would agree shops can be cluttered enough before tools start duplicating like rabbits.

Well, you could buy from hd, then return the one you ordered to hd once it comes in…

You would be relying on the idea that the return could happen in time (are you sure your discounted tool will be to you in 30 days?) and that a Home Depot employee at the customer service desk is not going to notice a shipping sticker and address on the side of your return from “Discounts ‘R’ Us”. If they say no, how angry will you be at that point? and who’s fault will it really be?
Bargains are great but so is timeliness. This goes bac to that old proverb about a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush.
