Bostitch Orbital Reciprocating Saw Review – BTE360K

8

I can’t say I have a lot of experience with Bostitch power tools.  Really the items I have used over the years have been the nailers and compressors.  When it comes to compressors and nailers, I am a fan of Bostitch.  I found out these are being sold through Amazon and Walmart.  I am not knocking Walmart, I am just having a real hard time picturing professional tools being sold at Walmart.  I have always associated Walmart with selling no name tools and Black & Decker.  With that being said, I do know a lot of people buy power tools at Walmart, if they didn’t, Walmart wouldn’t have that aisle around.

Now I have to say with my perception of Walmart and tools, this reciprocating saw really did surprise me.  Maybe because I was not expecting much and it turned out to be much better than I anticipated.  For starters this has an 8.5 amp motor.  Now it doesn’t compare to some other brands that have much more amps, but 8.5 amps will let the user do a lot of work and in different applications.  I was disappointed with their cordless tools as they didn’t seem to have many options or features.  With the Bostitch reciprocating saw, that’s not the case.  This saw has some of the main features more expensive models have such as orbital action, tool free blade change, variable speed trigger and an adjustable shoe.

Sounds all good, but you may be wondering about other stats and how well it will work under your projects.  First, it has a 1-1/8″ stroke length and 0-3,200 spm.  This means this saw has some major speed.  Along with an 8.5 amp motor, it can do some serious work and cut through some tough material.

The balance and feel of the saw aren’t bad at all.  Even when we were using the tool just playing around cutting through different material, the vibrations didn’t seem too bad.  If you took the name off the saw and put it in my hands, I wouldn’t think this saw was priced under $100.  With the options and power, it does seem more professional than a Walmart tool.

Overall this reciprocating saw really impressed me.  With many of the features of the more known names, this saw won’t break the bank.  Priced under $100 and backed with a 3 year limited warranty, it’s really hard to beat.  Especially for those guys who need a reciprocating saw, but won’t be using it every day.  Why have an expensive saw sitting around collecting dust only waiting for those certain times you can use the saw?

  1. Great Review Eric!! For being sold at Walmart this is pretty solid, Iike that they inlcude the orbital feature and is pretty fast. Not a bad price for the Homeowner! Keep up the great work!

  2. Great review Eric. I’m really impressed with the Bostitch has been coming out with. They are inexpensive and strong. Who could not love that.

On a side note, the website is looking SOOO good and professional! Even this “Leave a Reply” section is cleaner. So professional.

  3. Bostitch is known for their great nailers & compressors, which I have, I wouldn’t mind test driving this rip saw. I was also at a Walmart & they have hundreds of accessories now as well. A little pricey for Walmart I thought. Great review as always.

  4. Can’t belive Walmart is selling “Bostitch” products (There nail guns are great) – Sorry but walmart sells nothing but garbage. Cheap Chinese made products that fall apart on its own. All though I have it looks nice, but I wont keep my hopes up and spend $20-30 more and buy tried and trusted Sawzal or rep saw from delwat.

  5. Would love to see a review on Bostitch corded circular saw. It has a magnesium base plate, 15amps and is one of the lightest most well balanced corded circular saw that I have ever picked up and it fells like it is made of good quality.
