We live in a concrete jungle. Everywhere you look, you can find concrete. This material is in our roads, buildings, bridges and more. It’s only natural we have power tools that have the capability of working with this amazing material. So let’s jump into our Bosch Bulldog Rotary Hammer review.
When it comes to concrete, Bosch is one of the forerunners along with Hilti. Now I understand there are other manufacturers such as Makita and Metabo, but I don’t have much experience with those concrete tools. My experience has always been with Bosch and Hilti rotary tools, plus that is primarily what I see on job sites.
Bosch Bulldog Rotary Hammer Review – Overview
The rotary tool we are looking at today is the Bosch 11255VSR, which is a corded rotary tool. If you are a fan of Tools in Action, you know we have extensively reviewed the full line of Bosch Bulldog tools and we have yet to have a major complaint. Well, the 11255VSR isn’t any different. The rotary hammer is powerful, easy to use and a tool anyone working with concrete should own.
Bosch Bulldog Rotary Hammer Review – Features
The Bulldog has 3 modes of operation, rotation only, rotary hammer and hammer-only. The vario-Lock is a cool feature that lets the user rotate and lock the chisel into 36 different positions making it optimal for any angle.
Bosch designed a hammer hook into the handle so when you are not using the tool, you can hang it up on a rafter, ladder or something else.
We all know that dealing with a cord can be a pain. Sometimes when we are using a tool, we end up fighting the cord. With this rotary hammer, Bosch implemented a cord turret which pivots 35° so you are not fighting the cord.
The 1″ SDS-plus bit system is tool-free which means you can easily change bits and don’t need a tool.
Bosch Bulldog Rotary Hammer Review – Power
This tool has plenty of power to put a hole or chisel through just about anything. Designed with a 7.5 amp motor, it has the power to perform. The no load speed is 0-5,800 with a 0-1,300 rpm to match.
When using the tool, you obviously feel vibrations, but it is kept to a minimum. Compare the vibration to other manufacturers and you will clearly see the difference.
Bosch Bulldog Rotary Hammer Review – Ergonomics
As with some of the other Bosch Bulldog Rotary hammers, this one is designed with a D-Handle. The D-Handle is great when working overhead or drilling below. The tool is very easy to control and comfortable.
The forward and reverse are located on the top of the tool. The slide switch is very easy to access with your thumb and even use with gloves on.
The variable speed trigger has a nice feel to it and is easy to keep and maintain a consistent speed.
The tool only weighs 6.7 lbs. So while it does have some weight to it, the power to weight ratio is awesome.
Bosch Bulldog Rotary Hammer Review – Final Thoughts
I know I sound like a broken record but when it comes to concrete, Bosch is the manufacturer to own. Their tools have performed time after time and year after year. This rotary hammer is not only comfortable but powerful enough to get most jobs done without breaking a sweat. If you are lifting concrete, installing anchors or doing some other job with concrete, this is a tool that will not only assist you but make your life easier.
