As you know I am not a painter, not even close. In fact I hate painting. When I heard about the Wagner 990 sprayer and how it made painting and staining easier, I figured I would give it a try. As you can see by the video below, I started off painting my fence. At first I was going a little too fast, but in a couple of minutes, I began to get the hang of it. In fact it turned out to be really easy.
I am not going to go into all the details about this sprayer. You can either check out the video below or check out their product page which does have a couple nice videos. This is more about how an average Joe can get a lot of painting done easily. I wish I had more videos of the whole painting process, but I some how erased a couple of videos on my phone and don’t have them. Don’t worry I will be revisiting this as in the fall I plan on doing more painting.
As with their other products, this system is extremely easy to set up and get started painting right away. Using the sprayer is also very easy. You can pretty much make any adjustment to match the thickness of your paint and how thick you want to apply it to your material. One cool feature of this prayer is the ability to take directly from a paint can, a 5 gallon bucket or even an included can adapter. Now don’t get me wrong, while it was easy to pick up and work right away, I was doing a fence outside, so I had a lot of room to make a bunch of errors before I got the hang of it. If your painting inside for the first time, I definitely would recommend practicing before you go to t town on the painting. Clean up wasn’t bad at all. I thought it would take about 30 minutes, but it took me about 45 minutes. After doing the clean up once, I know next time how to do everything and pretty sure I will be able to clean the system in about 15 or 20 minutes. The longest part is running cleaning water through the system for about 10 minutes.
The one thing I would like to see changed on this system is how you move it from location to location. While it does sit nicely on a 5 gallon bucket, it would be nice to have the system lock in place when you move it, that way you can grab the 5 gallon bucket handle and just walk to your next location. However the paint sprayer is so light, it’s really not a huge deal.
Bottom line, this is a nice system. We have done other Wagner products in the past and they have all be great quality and easy to use. As with the other system, this does come with extra parts in case you need to replace anything, which is a huge plus for me. I really can’t say enough how much this makes painting or staining much easier than using a roller or paint brush.
