Features
When it comes to framing nailers, Ridgid is quick because it doesn’t require any ramp-up time, it just fires. In fact, 3 nails per second which is impressive for a cordless framing nailer. The tool utilizes a brushless motor that offers power and extended runtime.
The nailer is powered by the Ridgid 18V battery. While it will run on any of the 18V Ridgid batteries, if you use a 4Ah battery you can expect to get about 750 nails per charge.
This nailer is a 21° and will fire nails from 2″ to 3-1/2″ full round head framing nails.
The grip is the traditional Ridgid 18V grip with the nice rubber overmold. I like how Ridgid designed it with a pressure pad for the safety feature instead of an on/off or another trigger.
The tool is capable of firing in bump or sequential mode.
The nailer offers a tool-free depth adjustment, which almost all cordless tools offer nowadays.
If you want no-mar tips, the nailer does come with them but they are easy to remove.
Impressions
Overall, this a great framing nailer. Ridgid is a company that makes professional power tools, made to last, so we know this is going to meet the demands of a framer. Will this take the place of your pneumatic nailer? No, but this is great for punch list items, small build-outs, and smaller jobs where you don’t want to deal with a compressor and air hose.
Wrap Up
If you own the Ridgid line of tools, this is a great addition. The nailer isn’t extremely heavy compared to other cordless framing nailers we have tested. The fact that this nailer is powered by a battery and doesn’t require gas cartridges is a huge plus. If speed and reliability are what you are looking for, take a look at the Ridgid 18V cordless framing nailer as you won’t be disappointed.
