There are times when you need something a bit more than a drill bit or even a spade bit and that’s when you can grab for you Hole Saw. Having a good hole saw to complete a job is essential, it save times, aggravation and wear and tear on your drill. That brings us to the MaxTech Hole Saw Kit. The model number on this hole saw kit is 52043MX.
The kit is a 10 piece set and comes with the following bit sizes:
- 3/4”
- 7/8”
- 1-1/8”
- 1-3/8”
- 1-1/2”
- 1-3/4”
- 2”
- 2-1/4”
- 2-1/2”
- Bi Metal
The kit comes in a hard plastic case to protect the bits and help keep you organized. These are classified as a Bi-metal hole saw bit. While some bits are designed for either wood, metal or plastic, these bits can be used on a variety of materials such as Steel, Brass, Bronze, Copper, Aluminum, wood and plastic. The body is made from an alloy steel which provides a greater impact resistance and improved load bearing.
There were a couple items that caught our attention when we first opened this kit. The first item was the Quick draw mandrel. Maxtech uses a two piece system where you have a bit that fits into the drill, which is a quick connect bit. The quick connect system then will fit on the end of any of these hole saw bits and your ready to go to work. The quick connect system is a cool idea. The way the plastic case that holds these bits is set up, a user never really has to touch the bits at all. Not that it’s a big deal before you start, but most of the time when you get done cutting a hole, the hole saw bit tends to be red hot. Now once a user gets done with a cut, they can place the bit into the case, use the quick release function and the saw bit is sitting in the proper place in the case and you never had to come in contact with the bit. The second item was the variable tooth pattern. We tend to like a variable tooth pattern as it will provide a faster cut. The hole saws had no issues sawing through any wood and metal that we threw at it.
Overall this is a good hole saw kit for the home owner or someone that needs to change bits frequently, professionals will like the quick connect system. The quick connect system is nice and sturdy, we liked the way it firmly locked into place.. The saws are and drill bits are easily replaceable if you break one.
be nice for robotics drilling wood
Canadian input: I had this set, Beautiful.(What wet dreams are made of) It speeds the time you need from swicthing out different sizes. 1/2″ for wiring to 2&1/2″ plumbimg holes. A word of caution ,fallow the speed cart. If you don’t the bit will become red hot, and the quick release chuck is a pressured fitting.Enough said, my 2&1/2″ Bi-metel quick release and part of the chuck have found a new home…under the crawl space of someones house. I’m too big to safely retrive it , so there it stays until someone else finds it. Hope someone else heeds the speed warnings and can use their tool for yrs. to come.
