One of the most used power tool accessories are drill bits. So with that being said, it’s important to have a quality set that you can rely on. A couple times in the past I thought I was getting a great deal when I could get a 50 piece set for dirt cheap. I was smart, I was saving money. Only to find out they were junk sets. The bits didn’t fit screw heads tights. I ended up breaking heads, stripping screws, well I am sure you have experienced this sometime in your life. That’s why I don’t care anymore about spending a couple extra bucks and getting a quality set. Which brings us to the Dewalt DW2169 38 Piece Impact Driver Set.
The Dewalt set comes with eight no. 2 Phillips 1-inch insert bits, one impact ready 3/8-inch drive 9/16-inch deep socket , eight no. 2 Phillips 1-inch drywall reduced diameter insert bits, five no. 2 Phillips 2-inch black oxide power bits, eight no. 2 Phillips 1-inch double ended bit tips, one 1/4-inch impact ready nut driver, one 5/16-inch impact ready nut driver, one 3/8 -inch impact ready socket adaptor, one impact ready 3/8-inch drive 3/8-inch deep socket, one impact ready 3/8-inch drive 7/16-inch deep socket, one impact ready 3/8-inch drive 1/2-inch deep socket , one impact ready pivoting bit tip holder, and one impact ready 3-inch stainless steel bit tip holder with hog ring.
There is not a lot to review or cover for these bits, but we will give it a shot. Opening the package up, there Dewalt included a lot of accessories, mostly #2 bits, but those tend to be used most often, so we are OK with that. As you can see by the picture there are two separate cases, one for the bits and attachments and another for the sockets. For the sockets, Dewalt decided on only including 4 different sockets. A couple more popular sizes would have been nice to include, but not a deal breaker. There is plenty enough room to store your extra sockets or other items in the case. The case has a lock that slides, which is a nice feature.
The Dewalt bit case also has a lock that slides and stores 32 bits and accessories. The pivoting tip is a nice added accessory and very easy to use. One thing I really like in sets is a magnetic bit holder. I have seen a lot of different magnetic bit holders, which most are cheap. They really don’t have much holding power. The Dewalt magnetic bit holder is very strong, which is key especially for one handed work. We were able to dip the head in our tool pouch and it would pull out three 3″ screws almost every time.
Conclusion
The bits themselves are great. They are strong and fit bolts and screw heads perfectly without any slipping. We did want to note, which isn’t that big of a deal are the two cases. We would have preferred Dewalt use the Tough Case for the sockets, but we think this set was produced before Dewalt introduced the Tough Case, so we are going to give them the benefit of the doubt. The bit case is very nice, but sometimes it was hard to get the bits back into the holder. Those two items aside, this is a great set to own.
