Pretty much everyone has heard of WD-40 and its flagship Multi-Use Product. It's one of those products that is a staple in every household. The company started back in the 50's and has been a part of our lives ever since. Recently WD-40 Company reached out to us and asked us to try a new product called WD-40 Specialist Industrial-Strength Cleaner & Degreaser. While we really don't sponsor many posts, except this one, this was something we thought would be interesting considering the company and strong name behind the product. So we thought it might be a good time to let everyone know about the new product.
Okay, before I go on I want to be clear. I am not saying this new cleaner is perfect for everyone or every problem. This is one of those products that has a sweet spot where it does a great job while for other jobs, another product might be better. So with that said, let's move on.
The new WD-40 Specialist Industrial Strength Cleaner & Degreaser is designed to be used on greasy automotive parts, floors, machines, tools, fixtures, sensitive metals such as copper, chrome, aluminum and more. It is a product that is designed to be used as a cleaner and degreaser but without the harsh chemicals that a traditional cleaner or degreaser might have. So what does this mean?
This means the cleaner is designed to be powerful but safe. It is a water-based, non-aerosol degreaser engineered to be safer and easier to use than other degreasers on the market. According to WD-40 Company this is an industrial strength non-corrosive formula that is non-toxic, biodegradable and is safe, not only for various metals and surfaces but even safe in food processing facilities, which says a lot. Check out the Data Sheet for more information.
A consumer can pick these up in five different sizes:
- 1 gallon
- 55 gallons
WD-40 Company created an easy refillable port. This way you can buy a bigger jug and easily fill the smaller spray bottle. So you don't need a funnel and you don't have to worry about diluting the product and making a mess.
We cleaned some plastic under the hood of my truck. My truck went through winter with dirt and salt. As you can see, it cleaned this area very nicely and left no residue just a nice shine.
We also used it on the Ventrac to remove some grease. With grease, we notice you have to leave it on there longer to help penetrate the grease.
As I said earlier this isn't for every application. If you have an old oil stain on your asphalt, it probably won't remove that. I have yet to find too many chemicals that will remove that.
Think of this product as a safe alternative to some of the harsh chemicals on the market that is designed to clean and degrease.
