CREE LED Flashlight for under $4? – Amazon Buy

14

If you watch any of our videos or flashlight reviews we always reference CREE. LEDS CREE makes quality on die LED chips. The are pretty much the Rolls Royce os LED lights. They are found in top end lights. So you can imagine my dismay when I came across a mini CREE LED tactical light for $3.80. I had to do a double take. The good thing about Amazon is the reviews. Over 3 thousand people gave this light a good review and it is an Amazon best seller.  They claim 300 lumens which I think is a bit of an overstatement.  It is even waterproof!

I ordered two and a month later they showed up. To my surprise they actually feel like decent quality light. They have a rubber covered push button on the back that turns the light on and off. One AA battery powers the light for about 1.5 hours. The focus is controlled via the adjustable head. You get a range of beam patterns, when zoomed all the way you can actually see the shadow of the LED chip on the wall. After using the light for a little while I like it. It is portable enough for an EDC and I love that it only uses 1 AA battery. I do however not think that it is a genuine CREE LED and is a knock off. That being said it is a good value if you are willing to wait for it to get shipped to you.

  1. What – no link? Here’s one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0088MB03I/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new

While a bit larger than these, Costco often has 3-packs of 250 lumen (non-adjustable) flashlights for around $20, and you can get them the same day, and return them if you’re not satisfied. I think the ones they’re currently carrying are Duracell branded. I’ve been happily using these for several years, following a battery leakage that hosed my $50 Coast flashlight.

    • I have the same ones, they work off of 3 AAA batts. They are ok, a few of mine the emitters have already burned out. I like the 1 AA and the small simple design of these and of course the price

  2. I bought two of these a while back one I carry in my truck and the other I mounted to my fire helmet. great little units and especially like the single A battery rather than the three AAA systems
    Thanks for the great site

  3. Dan this can’t be, 300 lumens for $4? I promised not to buy any more flashlights due to my collection of expensive lights. But, $4 bucks is worth it to prove this can’t be true. It doesn’t make sense too me or even true. 300 lumens????? Really???

I can’t break my promise, but I sure want too. Ahhh! Lagers TIA

  4. After reading your review, I ordered 4 of them….only took about 2 weeks for delivery and for a little off shore light they work awesome!…should have ordered 10 of them to give out for Christmas gifts….
