When it comes to 12V power tools, Milwaukee owns the market. Now the one thing i can say about their M12 line is it’s not a gimmick. These tools are not only powerful, but they are industry specific. While most manufacturers try to build up their 12V line of tools with out of the box solutions for one tool to fit all jobs, Milwaukee takes a different approach. If an electrician needs a certain tool that will only be used by an electrician, Milwaukee isn’t afraid to tackle the job and create a specific tool. As you can see, Milwaukee did just that with their Milwaukee Drain Snake, which is a perfect solution for the plumber. Milwaukee being Milwaukee didn’t just create a drain snake and hope for the best. When they designed, this designed it with functionality.
Now before I get started, I want to let you know I am not a plumber. I have used drain snakes in the past, but I am here more to tell you a little bit about the tool and let you know it’s available. So think of this as a new tool to market update. The Milwaukee Drain Snake is powered by their M12 battery platform, which means you can easily expand into other tools as needed.
The Milwaukee Drain Snake is the lightest portable solution on the market and is designed to power it’s way through 2-1/2″ drains. Here is one cool feature of this tool. The drain snake is designed for both handheld and floor base operation, making this a versatile tool.
As you can see by the pictures below, this has a fixed drain shield which protects not only the users, but also the surrounding fixtures. This drain snake has a removable inner drum which helps prevent cable bind up and contains the mess inside of the drum, instead of all over the walls and fixtures.
Using the drain snake is simple and straight forward. Just pull out your desired length, pull back on the locking mechanism and pull the trigger. You don’t have to worry about tightening a screw or anything else. When you need to feed more cable, you release the locking mechanism, pull out some more cable or pull back on the lock. Can it be any easier?
Now what about safety. Most of the time you use a corded snake to get the job done. These cord are plugged into the wall and run of electricity. Some of these units don’t even have GFCI’s built in as a safety feature. What usually use this tyupe of tool in a wet enviroment such as water. We all know that water and electricity don’t mix. While the M12 battery is electrical, you don’t have the cord or the hazards such as electrical shock from a wall plug and cord or tripping hazards.
