Overview
In the living room, we have a fireplace insert that we installed when we moved in that warms the room and most of the house. We replaced the bricks on the bottom of the fireplace and built out the mantle for a TV. The walls are plaster and the room has old windows.
Goal
The room is dark with the old wood panels and doesn’t have sufficient lighting. We want to lighten up and warm up the room.
Work to be Completed
- Remove plaster
- Add Insulation
- Remove old bricks around fireplace and install stone
- Replace two old windows
- Build a new mantle
- Add more lighting
- Add more outlets
- Create built-in bookshelves
- Refinish wood floors
When we first moved in, there was red brick by the fireplace. We took that out, installed a subfloor and tile.
