Top 10 Father's Day Gifts

It’s that time of year again. Dads everywhere will open a gift and pretend they love it. Their new tie will then get added to the collection of their other 30 ties that never get worn, and move on. Since my wife and kids keep asking me what I want for Father’s day, I thought I’d lend a helping hand, after all a little hint never hurt anyone. So here is our Top 10 Father’s Day Gifts Guide.

1Dewalt 20V Combo Kit

There are a lot of combo kits to pick from and in all honesty, I love them all. While Dewalt doesn’t have the biggest line their tools are well respected. I am a huge fan of the compact 20V drill/driver and impact combo kit, and I suspect any Dad would be thrilled to open one. You can pick this up at Home Depot for about $250. Not a bad price for a professional line of tools. This kit also comes with a 2Ah battery and a 4Ah battery and a carrying bag.

2Milwaukee 12V Combo Kit

If you want something a little smaller for your dad but still have lots of power, I am a huge fan of the Milwaukee 3rd gen hammer drill/driver and impact. Lightweight and powerful they are an awesome addition to every Dad’s tool collection. While Milwaukee’s 12V line is designed for trade specific tools, these are still very versatile. You can pick this up at The Home Depot for about $200. Also, don’t forget to check out our review of the Milwaukee Combo Kit.

3Bosch 12V Flexiclick

If you don’t want different tools, but want a tool that will allow your dad to have flexibility, the Bosch Flexiclick is a great option. I am a huge fan of Bosch 12V tools, but this has a twist to it. You can swap out the font and use this for different applications. This kit retails for about $180 at The Home Depot. Check out our take on the Bosch Flexiclick.

4Ego 56V String Trimmer

Ever since EGO came to market, it has been a huge hit with the consumer. In fact, this is the brand that made me change from gas to battery powered OPE tools and never look back. Everything in the line is top rated and great quality, not to mention powerful and lightweight. Buy him one of these and you can have Dad leave the cursing behind when trying to deal with gas trimmers. If you like hearing your Dad swear and want to take a couple of years off his life, then just let him be with his gas trimmer and gas OPE tools. We won’t judge you. You can pick this up at The Home Depot for about $230. We reviewed this trimmer recently so don’t forget to take a look at our Ego String Trimmer Review.

5Bosch Connected Control

I am in the process of remodeling my house and also adding central air. Now I don’t have this product so I can’t speak how well it works yet. However, this is something I will be getting and will show off.  It seemed worth noting as Bosch rarely disappoints. I am a huge fan of Bosch and this thermostat combines sleek looks with seemingly easy to use controls. This is about $135 on Amazon.

6Milwaukee Hardline Pocket Knife

Who doesn’t need a solid knife? Not sure why, but I love knives. While I am not saying this is the best knife on the market it’s a solid option. The $80 price tag may be up there, but I love the feel of this knife. It has that toughness and weight you would expect in a high-quality knife.

7OLFA Utility Knife

Before we tested these knives, this is something I would have never bought. I mean, a utility knife is a utility knife, right? I am not ashamed to admit I was wrong on that one. Now that we have used them, this is my go-to utility knife. I love the snap off blades, the comfort and ease of use. At $10 it’s hard to pass up. I can’t really explain it, it’s just a cool utility knife and a great value.

8Stanley Exojacket Hose

I was a huge fan of the Pocket Hose, but not the usual cheap quality of it. I owned several and they always broke too quickly. This one by Stanley seems like a quality replacement and one that will last. I am going to get one and test it out since I love the idea of this hose. The lighter weight makes it a lot easier to carry around compared to my green rubber hose. You can pick one of these up for about $50 on Amazon for a 50′ hose.

9Masterbuilt Electric Smoker

This is something I have been wanting for a long time and have never pulled the trigger.  Right now I am using my old charcoal grill to smoke which does an awesome job, but there is something about this that makes me want to spend some money. The reviews are great and I like the idea of auto temp control. You can pick this up for about $185 on Amazon. If anyone has this, please let me know what you think.

10Husky Lunch Cooler

If your Dad is like me, then you know how much he loves his food. This is a great cooler for him to take to the beach or he can take some food with him when Mom kicks him out and is living out of the car. A word of advice here folks, if a woman says she is “fine” she is, in fact, anything but “fine”. You can pick this up for about $20 at The Home Depot. We have a review coming out soon but sneak peak, I love this cooler. A quality cooler for only $20, hard to argue with that.

So there you have it, the Top 10 Father’s Day Gifts. I could have made this a top 100 but I figure I better stop now because Father’s Day is right around the corner.

Happy Father’s Day from the Tools In Action Team!

  1. Nice list Eric. I have the Ego trimmer (your fault) and the Olfa knife and both are great. I am going to have to check out the Stanley hose you listed.
