Milwaukee 2732 Circular Saw Review

Cordless circular saws have come a long way over the past ten years. Circular Saws are more powerful, lighter and the run times have increased from an hour of work to all day performance. One of my favorite cordless saws on the market has been the Milwaukee M18. Milwaukee has two 18V circular saws on the market, a 6-1/2″ and a 7-1/4″. While I love the 7-1/4″, the 6-1/2″ has been the perfect solution for a majority of my projects.  However when it comes to heavy duty, the 7-1/4″ is a top dog. Recently Milwaukee introduced the second generation circular saw so let’s take a look at the Milwaukee 2732 Circular Saw Review.

When it comes to a circular saw, Skil is known for their worm drive saws. They were first to market and are said to be the saw that built America. Over the years with the cordless solutions, other companies have come into play such as Makita with their rear handle cordless saw. However, there is one company that has been known for their cordless tools and their saws, Milwaukee.

So when Milwaukee announced their second generation, it is no surprise that they want to stay top dog on the block and be able to have a superior saw for the professional tradesmen.

Milwaukee was able to take the 2732 and increase the power and runtime. According to Milwaukee the saw is equivalent to a 15 amp corded circular saw but cuts faster. You can also make up to 750 cuts per charge (I am guessing that is into a 2×4).

Milwaukee 2732 Circular Saw Review Features

Milwaukee 2732 Circular Saw Review Overview

The Milwaukee 2732 is a 7-1/4 circular saw. The blade is located on the right-hand side of the saw, while the 6-1/2″ Milwaukee blades are on the left-hand side of the saw.  Milwaukee designed this with a top handle grip. The brushless motor is powerful and can ramp up the speed to 5,800 RPMs with a 2-1/2″ cut depth.

While the saw is impressive by itself, the power source is a beast. Milwaukee uses their 12Ah M18 battery to power this saw, which is included in the kit 2732-21HD.

The top handle has a grip which mimics other Milwaukee cordless tools with the same texture, style, and size.

The safety button is conveniently located where you can press it on either side of the handle with your thumb.

The trigger has a nice contour for your finger and feels like a quality trigger that has some feedback.

As with their other 7-1/4″ circular saw, this also has an integrated rafter hook. This is made of metal.

The blade is located on the right-hand side of the saw, which some will love and others might not be a huge fan of this blade position.

One feature that is nice is the chip or dust extractor which is located on the back of the saw. This does a great job of pushing the dust and debris away from your area. You also have the option of taking this off and using the included set up for a dust or shop vacuum.

I like how you can adjust the depth of this. The lever is out of the way but when you do need to adjust the depth, the lever is easy to access. You can see where you set the depth which is located on the inside side of the saw.

The saw will bevel up to 50° by turning a knob.

All the marketings on the saw are either raised or etched into the metal so no worries about paint rubbing off after a couple of years.

Milwaukee 2732 Circular Saw Review Performance

Here is the deal. For pure power, this saw is a beast. Powerful enough to rip through sheets of plywood and not break a sweat. Tough enough to take the daily abuse of the job site.  All in all, this ran through our decking for flooring, some timbers for our shelving and more and all doing it without a power cord, which is impressive.

While I love the power some might be like me and have a little trouble with the ergonomics. If you are used to a top handle and a blade on the right, this saw is for you.  For me, I am a huge fan of rear handle saws. Not sure if that is just because I grew up using that style or what, but I still prefer it today. Also, I like having the blade on the left side of the saw. I understand that this is a heavy saw and you need two hands to open this tool. When using two hands, the blade on the right makes more sense for the line of sight. I tend to use a saw with a single hand and like pushing a saw and being on the left side of the saw, so for me, the blade on the left is better for me.

Milwaukee 2732 Circular Saw Review Value

You can pick this saw up at The Home Depot for about $400. Yes, that is a lot of money for a circular saw.  You do get a 12 A/h battery which in itself is expensive. For a professional who relies on a saw for their daily duties, it’s not a bad investment. The saw is fast, durable and the runtime is great. So as a professional, it gives you everything you want in a high-performance saw.

Milwaukee 2732 Circular Saw Review Final Thoughts

Bottomline, I am torn about this saw. Yes, I love the saw. The saw is powerful, built like a tank and cuts like a champ. However, I really would have loved to see a rear handle on the saw. Not a huge deal for most, but that is the style I really like. Also, I would have loved to see the blade on the left-hand side of the saw. I get it, the saw is heavy and powerful and should be used with two hands, so the right-handed makes more sense for sight. But again, just not my style.

Anyone looking for a top handle with a blade on the right, this is an awesome saw to own.  You will rip through just about anything and have the runtime to last.
