Diablo Metal Blade

Diablo is a name most people know.  They are known for their high-quality blades that you can find at your local Home Depot. Diablo offers a wide range of saw blades.  Anything from a rip cut to a finish cut.  You can buy a blade for Pergo, cement or steel.  This blade, D0748CF is the Steel demon blade that is designed for metal.  The Diablo metal blade is designed for cutting mild metals and stainless steel.

Overview

As you know, a job site has a wide range of different metals that need to be cut down to specific sizes.  You can be dealing with anything from EMT pipe to angle iron to threaded rod.  As you know, sometimes you either have to have dedicated saws for different materials or you have to keep changing your blade so you don’t ruin the tool or blade.  The Steel Demon Metal blade is designed to cut a wide range of metal and eliminate the need for different saws or blades.

Diablo Information

Diablo Features

The Diablo Steel Demon is a Cermet Carbide blade designed to cut mild and stainless steel.

  • Studs/Channels 1/16″ – 1/4″
  • Angle Iron 1/16″ – 1/4″
  • Plates/Bars 1/8″ – 1/2″
  • Pipes/Tubes 1/16″ – 1/4″
  • EMT Conduit 1/16″ – 1/4″
  • Threaded Rod 1/4″ – 1-1/2″

The blade is designed and has advantages such as a faster, safer, cleaner and a burr-free cut.  This blade is a 7-1/4″ with 48 teeth.  The Diablo blade is specially formulated Cermet (Ceramic and Metallic blend) which means it has extremely hard teeth and better for wear and cutting life.

The blade features a triple chip grind and Perma-Shield coating which produces a burr-free finish cut. The blade has a thin kerf and a laser cut which helps reduce vibration and noise.

So, in essence, this is a one-stop blade and reduces the need to dedicate saws for different jobs.

First Impressions

The blade is really designed for both mild and stainless steel, we thought and decided to take it up another level and cut some rebar we had laying around the shop.  We will be using this blade more in the future for our automotive projects so follow us on Instagram to see this cut more but for now, let’s talk about the rebar.

While it doesn’t specifically say this blade is for Rebar, it does say it will cut bars up to 1/2″ thick, so rebar shouldn’t be a problem.  As you would expect, it did cut through the rebar without any issues.  The bar was cool to the touch after the cut and best of all, it was a clean cut.

None of the teeth were chipped, cracked or broke off.  So for us, this seems like a great blade and knowing Diablo, they make killer blades so this really isn’t a surprise.

Final Thoughts

Overall you can’t go wrong with Diablo blades.  When it comes to circular saw blades, they are one of my favorite blades.  They seem to last, I feel you get a great value and they have a ton of different types of blades to match your application.  Considering this blade is $30 and you get a cold cut where you can use the metal right away, plus you get a clean cut, it’s worth the $30.
