DeWalt 20V Max DCF889L2 1/2-Inch Impact Wrench

The DeWALT 20V max line is slowly expanding.  For bigger applications that require more power they have released the DCF889.  The 5.3lb tool comes with two 3.0 Ah batteries with fuel status gauges.  It also comes with a charger and a bag to keep the tool in.  The L2 version has a pin detent, you can also get it with a hog ring anvil.  And they even have a bare tool version.

The tool has the ergonomic 20V max grip that is one of the best grips on the market.  The variable speed trigger puts out up to 1500 rpm and 2300 impacts per minute.  The tool puts out the same torque as the XRP version which is 300 ft-lbs of torque.  The torque is a bit low for a tool of this size and we were not able to remove lug nuts from a trailer with it.  I would say it is designed for fastening applications where super high torque is not needed.

The LED light on the front is a nice addition and control of the tool was very good.  Eric noted that where the battery and base mated was a little loose for him, however it felt fine to me.  Dewalt’s standard warranty applies to this product.  It has an all metal transmission and magnesium gear case for durability.  Despite its lack luster torque specs, the DCF889L2 is a good addition if you already have the 20V max line and have heavier duty  fastening applications.
