About the Trend Airshield Pro

The Trend Airshield Pro air circulating face shield provides excellent protection from the inhalation of all kinds of harmful dust, using twin fine dust filters to get the job done. It is a great tool for face protection, and at the same time provides filtering of fine particulates for increased respiratory protection.

This neat face shield is perfect for:

Woodworkers who are doing any kind of work, but especially routing and woodturning. The filtration system allows the routing of MDF and other man-made boards as well as natural timbers.

Tool users that need protection from dusty enviorments, which could be Agricultural, Mowing, Heavy sweeping, and Grinding.

The Airshield Pro filters all particulates, and the flip-up visor protects the eyes and face from any flying debris. The visor has a pivoting action that allows the user to move it out of the way when not in need of filtering particulates. It is very lightweight, quiet and comfortable on the head.

The face shield comes with a 8-hour removable Ni-MH battery, battery charger, pair of THP2 fine filters, airflow indicator, visor overlay, and carrying bag. The battery keeps a constant stream of filtered air flowing across the face.

The new Trend Airshield Pro is greatly improved over the original Trend Airshield, making it much easier to use and more comfortable to wear. The motor has been relocated to the back of the helmet, creating better balance and reduced noise and vibration at the forehead area of the shield

The Trend Airshield Pro also has attachment points for optional hearing protection, along with a neat audible low battery warning. The twin filters increase filtration area by 400%, providing much better protection against harmful dust. The adjustable head band is very easy to use to get the Airshield to fit the user’s head like a glove, and it is a moisture wicking headband, so it keeps you comfortable if you are using it for a long period of time.

The Review

The first thing we noticed when we took the Airshield Pro out of the box was it’s sleek look and it’s light weight. We also were amazed at how easy it was to attach accessories, such as the ear shields. The elastic band that fits around the face of the user fits like a glove, and is very comfortable, not itchy at all! When using the Airshield Pro for minimum testing, the particles created during woodworking were not detected at all inside the helmet, so the seal works well.

Opening up the Airshield Pro to inspect the inner mechanisms was very easy. It was easy to see the eight hour rechargeable battery, and also the plug-in for recharging purposes. We also were able to see the rear placement of the motor, which really helps with the balance when the Airshield Pro is on your head. It’s easy to see why the Pro has a 98% efficiency rating when you inspect the two filters placed inside the helmet, very good design! When Mike put the helmet on, he was amazed at how light it felt on his head, and also pleased with how easy it was to adjust the the size to his custom fitting needs. Once the helmet was fitted to his head, it stayed in place very well. Once the helmet is on, you notice the visor starts to fog up, like in the case of any shield that encloses the face. The difference with the Airshield Pro is that when you turn on the quiet motor that circulates the air at 98% efficiency, the visor fog is instantaneously cleared, and then stays that way while it is in comfortable use. Lastly, the visor worked well at deflecting small debris when at work on a project.

Final Thought

The Airshield Pro passed our test as being both user friendly, and more importantly, user safe. Truly a good piece of safety equipment for many different working environments that create potentially harmful particulates or flying debris.
