Dewalt DCF887D2 – Three Speed Impact Driver

Tools in Action has long touted that the Dewalt Drill/Driver and the Impact Driver are one of the most comfortable tools on the market.  Not sure if it’s the power, the grip or balance, but we love these two tools.  Well now Dewalt introduced a new impact driver.  The Dewalt DCF887D2 doesn’t fail as it still has that great feel and plenty of power to go around.  Not to mention the run time. The new Dewalt DCF887D2 is based on a 1/4″ hex chuck to get the job done.  Inside the tool is where all the magic is located....

Friday Night Tool Fight – Milwaukee vs Dewalt 12V Impact Driver

Friday is here and Tools in Action has another tool Fight.  This week we did 12V Impact Drivers, well just two of them.  We took the Milwaukee M12 Fuel vs the Dewalt 12V.  I am just going to cover a little of each tool and let the video do the rest of the talking. The Milwaukee M12 Impact is model 2453-20 (Bare) and 2453-22 (Kit).  The Dewalt model number is  DCF815 (Bare) and  DCF815S2 (Kit). Is this really comparing apples to apples?  No, because there are some significant differences.  However these are the top tools each company is offering...

Dewalt 20V Brushless Compact Drill & Impact Driver – DCK281D2

You may be wondering why I am writing a Dewalt article and not Dan.  After all isn’t Dan the Dewalt guy?  I know a lot of people think I am the Milwaukee guy and Dan is the Dewalt guy.  To an extent that is correct.  Not because we think one brand is better than the other, but just because for us, well for me it’s much easier.  Dan is the guy who likes to keep his tools new.  For me I still use my tools, not as often, but I still get some side jobs where I can break...

Dewalt DCF886 Brushless 1/4″ Impact Driver – Review

Even though brushless tools have been out for years, they seem to be all the rage now.  Higher capacity lithium Ion batteries mated to these brushless setups are giving unheard of run times.  DeWALT already released a brushless 3 speed impact last year the DCf895 which is great for applications where you need total speed control.  With this new second round of brushless they are touting their new 2.0 and 4.0 XR battery packs that give up to 33% more run time.  We witnessed this first hand at the recent...

Friday Night Tool Fight – Dewalt vs. Milwaukee Brushless Impact Drivers

We have been receiving a lot of emails about our tool fights and when we will be putting the Milwaukee against the Dewalt Impact Drivers.  Well we listened and gave it a shot.  Now before the emails come in saying we did this wrong or that wrong, let’s get a couple things straight.  We are not engineers, we are not scientists.  We are just two dudes who love tools and have fun with them.  There are so many ways to test tools such as torque, battery life and more.  Again, we are just having fun and yes we know...

DEWALT 20 -Volt Max Brushless 3 -Speed 1/4 in. Impact Driver Kit – DCF895C2

Let’s be frank, brushless power is not really all that new to power tools.  Other brands have had it for a while now but did not really market it.  In fact Makita even has a brushless 3 speed impact that has been discontinued, if that is any indication of how long they have been around!  But it is much more than just adding a brushless motor.  It is a recipe that starts with a lithium battery, then a way to harness and control the power from the battery and deliver it electronically to the brushless motor.  And on top...

DeWALT Cordless Impact Driver Kit DCF885C2 20v Max – Review

I am finally going to admit that I have a major sickness, I don’t know what it is. I love Cordless Drills and Drivers.  I have to have every single one, even though I may never use them.  It’s kind of a catch 22 situation, I would go see a shrink, but it costs money and I need money to buy tools!  So I am at the local Home Depot the other day and what did I see?  The new 20V Max sitting there on the shelf, at first I had to do a double take to make sure...
