Ryobi Garage Air Inflator Review

Ryobi made a big splash back in 2016 with their introduction of the Ryobi Garage Door Opener.  The opener wasn’t your standard opener, it was so much more.  Ryobi designed the system to be modular and grow to your needs.  So users can add a fan, Bluetooth speaker, camera and more.  Speaking of modules, let’s jump into the Ryobi Garage Air Inflator Review.

Ryobi Garage Air Inflator Review – Overview

If you have kids, you know how much you use air to fill tires, toys, and balls. I have a compressor on the floor and it’s always ready to flow air because my kids are always asking me.  The new Ryobi inflator is my answer to reduce my hassle.

The inflator is an overhead system that has an attached cord reel to help simplify your life.

The inflator takes up two ports on your opener and has to be used on either the right or left side of the opener since it also uses the plug port.

This is not a compressor, this is an inflator (max 145 psi) so it doesn’t hold air.  It’s air on demand.  Just press a button on your keypad and the inflator will turn on.

Once it’s on, you can start filling anything with air.  When you are done, you can retract the 25′ cord with ease back into the reel.

There is a pressure gauge built into the hose which makes it easy to stop and measure your PSI.

Ryobi Garage Air Inflator Review – Quality

For me, it’s hard to speak about the quality of the inflator.  I have been using the system for about a month almost every day and it has worked every time.

The hose is a nice material and is lightweight and flexible.  I haven’t kept it on the ground and run it over, so not sure how it will hold up to people who can wrap the cord back up.

Ryobi Garage Air Inflator Review – Value

Ryobi provides a great value for the inflator.  With a price tag of $90 at The Home Depot, it’s well worth the cost.  While you can buy a handheld inflator for much less, I just love the convenience.

I don’t have to worry about finding power, taking the inflator off the shelf or putting it back.  I can just pull a cord and start filling my kid’s tires and toys.

Now I can get rid of the compressor on the floor and have more room, so for me, it’s a huge plus.

Ryobi Garage Air Inflator Review – Final Thoughts

For me, this is a no-brainer.  I have two kids and I am always filling their toys and tires.  I have a 2-gallon compressor on the floor and have to deal with the cord.  Now I can get rid of the compressor and keep the whole unit out of the way.  Again this isn’t meant to replace a compressor as this is an inflator, so those looking for a compressor, this isn’t for you.  Those of us who have kids and understand the use of an inflator, this is a buy all day long.  While the inflator is loud, it’s worth the trade-off for the convenience.

  1. Eric, is this inflator going to be able to fill car tires a few PSI up in a reasonable amount of time? Or would it take like 5 minutes for 2 PSI in a car tire. Just curious as I could use this in my garage, but don’t want to be disappointed in its performance.

    • Good question. I am not sure. My driveway is too small and cant pull my truck back there, lol. I use it all the time for kids toys and the toys don’t have enough psi to test.

  2. I just picked one up and for some reason i cant get it to work any tips ? when I put a soccer ball needle in the air hose and pressed the button on the wall unit but after pressing squeezing the trigger it would not inflate the ball. I tried it on my truck tire without the soccer ball needle and when I secured it to the tire it gave air pressure reading bug again didn’t seem to be inflating after squeezing the grip. i am getting no noise at all from the unit.
