Pliers have been around for a long time in fact early pliers were found in BC times, but not since Bob Vila and the Robogrip has a pair of pliers changed the playing field like IRWIN has with its new GrooveLock pliers.  These are the most innovative thought out pliers I have ever seen. IRWIN really seems to be putting a lot of technology into these products to make them the perfect tool.

Who doesn’t have a trusty set of groove joint pliers? you know the ones that pinch your fingers and are a pain to keep adjusted. Well luckily we have a replacement the IRWIN GooveLock pliers are in the house! They take care of all those fumbling adjustments with one press and slip button, release the button and the pliers lock into place. The pliers have twice the groove positions as normal pliers allowing you have a precise grip on your work. The non-slip ProTouch™ Grips emit quality, are easy to grip and incorporate a no pinch design. The ratcheting action of the pliers was smooth and precise with a rock solid tight grip.

Metal injection molding has been used on the tool to give it amazing strength and durability, its backed by IRWIN’S lifetime guarantee, thats right the life of the tool. We always like when a manufacturer does this, it means that they stand by their tool and it will provide you a lifetime of trouble free operation. Available with straight, smooth, and v-shaped jaws. the tool is a good fit for any tradesman.

In our tests we bent some sheet metal with the smooth jaws, rotated some pipe and tightened some lag bolts with the jagged jaw pliers. The tool had an excellent grip and was adjusted in less than a second to any size job we threw at it. These pliers are great and will always be in my tool collection. Right now you can win 1 million dollars from IRWIN in the Thank a Tradesman contest visit www.irwin.com for details.

We always like to hear back from our readers on their experience with these tools – good or bad.  Do you have experience with these tools?  How has the long term use been?  What applications have you used the tool for?  Is this a DIY or professional grade tool?  Let us and other readers know.

  1. I love mine and have bought three sets so I can have them in different tool boxes. I have put them to the test and they held up! Highly recommend.

  2. I bought 2 of these about a month ago. One works, the other does not hold, so I would not recommend purchasing this product
