Bosch PS50 Muti-X Oscillating Tool Specifications

The ps50 packs 12V power and uses the same batteries as the other tools in the Bosch’s 12V Max line. The tool produces 5,000-20,000 oscillations per minute or OPM, which allows the tool to be used for a variety of applications. The tool weighs 2.2lbs and is 10.9″ long which makes it light and agile. The kit also includes Bosch’s proven 30 minute 12V charger with 2 Lithium-ion battteries.

Bosch PS50 Muti-X Oscillating Tool Review

This is our first oscillating multitool review and we were excited to see it in action. We purchased a refurbished model on Amazon and it arrived as advertised, the tool looked new with the exception of a “R” impression on the rubber grip.  It included a hard case, 2 batteries, a charger, and various accessories. The first thing we noticed was that the tool was lighter than expected, it felt nice and balanced. The tool is thinner at the base and widens as you move up towards the switch. The Bosch has six speed settings, 5k to 20k, the transition between speeds is smooth and precise. On the side of the tool above the switch is the battery fuel gauge. The bottom grip of the tool is flat and has a good feel to it.

So what can this tool do? Well it does a great job at multiple things. It cuts, sands, scrapes and it is portable. We cut through a 2×4 with this tool with ease and precision. We cut a few metal door jambs and was impressed at the speed that it cut through. This is a classic example of letting the tool do the work, if you force the tool it will stall out, you have to let the tool do the cutting and cannot force it. We thought the tool did great in all the tests that we did. The only thing we were not too impressed with was battery life as we only got about 8-9 minutes per charge.

Bosch has recently released an OIS adapter that will allow you to use other manufacturers accessories on this tool, which is becoming the norm for all oscillating tools.

Bosch PS50 Muti-X Oscillating Tool Wrap-Up

If you already own Bosch’s compact 12Vmax line this would be a great addition. It is a light, powerful and a quality made tool. We liked the Bosch hard case a lot as it keeps the tool, accessories and charger neatly stowed. The one thing we didn’t really like was the battery life, but if you have a few extra battery packs around you should be ok. You cannot go wrong with this tool for the price.

  1. I’m a big fan of the Dremel Multi-max. I have the MM20 and use it to make some jobs easier. Though it could never replace a sander or Jigsaw for regular, constant use, it does nicely on hard to get to places where extra care is needed.

I especially like using the saw to fix uneven/jammed doors. I no longer need to remove the door to fix it.

  2. I just got it today cose my jobmax battery died and i only had one battery , is it normal that the fuel gauge as only 2 lights working with new and fully charged battery ? I know some battery needs to be charge a few times before they get full charge

  3. I’ve just contact bosch and they said its normal with new batterys they need 3 to 6 charge to be fully charge ! Thanks agan 🙂
