Timberland Pro Helix 6″ Work Boot

I don’t care what you do for a living, I am sure we can all agree that having a comfortable pair of shoes or boots is a must.  If your shoes aren’t comfortable or provide the right amount of support, you get soar feet and even have knee, hip or back problems.  If you remember we reviewed the Timberland Rip Saw boots.  I have to say for a large boot, I love these boots.  However I don’t always need such a high boot and that is where the Helix comes into play. These are only 6″ boots and this is the size I tend to wear the most.  For the rip saw boots, we took them out and got them pretty muddy.  For the Helix, I did something a little different.  I have bad feet.  If I am on concrete all day, my feet tend to hurt for a couple of days afterwards.  So since this is the size I wear, I wanted to try them out in a general setting and just wear them when I knew I would be on my feet all day moving around on a concrete floor.  In fact when we went downtown for the Irwin Tradesmen Day, I wore these boots.

First, I have to say I really like the looks of these boots.  While it’s nice to have a good looking boot, what is the use if they don’t provide comfort and protection.  I am not going to go into everything these boots have to offer, instead I will list those items below.  I do want to touch on a couple things.  One thing I really like about these boots is the option of lacing them up.  On the top of the boot, I can either lace the boots up using holes or I can lace them up wrapping the lace around.  Yes, I know that isn’t a great explanation of how they work, instead look at the picture and I think you will get the point I am trying to make.

The sole of these boots are very nice.  I noticed that while I was on a ladder, they weren’t clunky like other boots.  In fact I felt much better on the ladder which was weird.  After looking it up I realized Timberland created these boots to be more comfortable on a ladder with their Ladder Lock system.  When I first put them on I noticed how comfortable they were before I even broke them in which is nice not to have that break in period.  Don’t get me wrong, they will feel even more comfortable after a little use.  Another thing I noticed was at the end of the day when I took the boots off, my feet weren’t all wet from sweat. Sometimes I have taken off boots, only for my socks to be wet.

Walking around downtown and walking through different construction sites, I have to say these are extremely comfortable boots.   At the end of the day, my feet didn’t hurt, my knees were good, my hips didn’t have pain and my back was fine.  In the end, that’s all I can ask from a work boot.  Comfort and protection.

Overall I am becoming a big fan of Timberland boots.  I never thought much about Timberland boots, I have always been a Red Wing fan.  After using the Rip Saw and the Helix, I can say Timberland makes some great boots for the worker.  Comfortable, durable and simply great boots.  Funny thing is my Red Wings now sit in the closet and my Timberland are my go to boots.
