Today DeWALT announced the DCT418 12 Volt MAX Lithium Ion Hand-Held Radar Scanner.  This is Dewalt’s answer to the Milwaukee M12 Sub Scanner that we reviewed here.   It has a pre scan mapping mode that eliminates the need to calibrate between settings, thus saving time for the user.  It has a confidence meter that communicates the signal strength and counts how many objects are detected.  The unit can scan through, marble, concrete, drywall, plywood and ceramic tile at a scanning depth of up to 3″.

The color LCD screen shows studs, non-ferrous metal, ferrous metal and even PVC.  Like the M12 it will also let you know if there is live wires behind the wall.  Expect to see the $299 tool hit store shelves soon.  We will let you know when we get our hands on one!
