V-TapGuides and V-DrillGuides by Big Gator Tools

1

Once in a while we come across a product that has us thinking “why didn’t we think of that!”  The  V-TapGuides and V-DrillGuides by Big Gator Tools are such a great idea.  Basically they allow you to drill and or tap straight holes, think of a drill press.  With the V-DrillGuides you dont need a drill press to drill straight.  You get a straight hole every time, even on corners and tubing thanks to the 90 degree V groove design.  First impressions of the tools are great, they are quality made, come in plastic containers and have clear laser markings on them.

Made in the USA the guides are made out of a special nickel alloyed steel so that the drill wont damage them.  You can use the Drill Guides to aid in drilling in any surface.  A straight hole is the key to tapping, without the  V-TapGuides it was a real chore trying to maintain a straight tap.  Not only does a crooked tap ruin your work, it also puts un-needed wear and tear on your tap.  The Guides come in all different varieties from standard to metric, they even have a STI-UNF V-TapGuide for Helicoil type ground fine thread taps.  What the heck does that mean?  Check out Helicoil taps here.

Big Gator Tools are made in the U.S.A. and have a lifetime warranty.  Check out Big Gator Tools at http://www.tapguide.com

  1. Dan–Nice article on these. I have the two V-Tap Guides and the V-Drill guide for U.S. drill sizes. Really come in handy when you’re drilling on metal or plastic pipe, and are great for drilling vertical holes in general; they keep you on target. They’re also a life saver when drilling/tapping or re-tapping holes on small items like carburetors when you only have one shot at it. I noticed the U.S. drill guide only goes up to 3/8″, so thought I’d need a larger one to get 1/2″ or 5/8″ holes. However, the V-Tap for U.S. threads will handle those sizes as well.

Incidentally, a big thanks to you and Eric for your product reviews and stories on new releases. You keep us apprised of what’s coming down the pike and the relative usefullness of hand and power tools from a regular guy’s perspective.
